Nea Flogita and Nea Plagia are only half an hour drive from Thessaloniki and belong to the Halkidiki. The places are connected and Nea Flogita is slightly bigger, prettier and more popular.

Due to the proximity of Thessaloniki, there’s not many accommodation units and hotels in these places, as many of the houses and villas in the town are owned by Thessalonians, who mostly spend weekends here during the summer. Both places are beautifully landscaped, with a long beach and vast palm trees in its hinterland, with paved promenade and beautiful parks. The promenade that’s connecting them is several kilometers long and ideal for those who enjoy long walks or biking. Along the coast, you will find large and beautifully landscaped parks full of greenery and toys for children.

In the hinterland of some parts of the beach, there is a deep shade beneath the canopy of trees that you can retreat to during the hottest summer heat.

What is the beach like in Nea Flogita and Nea Plagia?

What adorns Nea Flogita and Nea Plagia is a wide sandy beach, with fine sand or gravel in the water and on the coast, with gradual depth and long shallows ideal for young children. The beach is arranged and clean, with clear and transparent water. Sunbeds and parasols are free of charge if you buy a drink or coffee. Of course, you can also place your towel if you prefer.

There are organized water sports on the beach as well as courts for other sports on the beach.

Are there shops and supermarkets in Nea Flogita and Plagia?

Both places have a pharmacy, bakeries, butchers and various shops. The best and most convenient for supplying are the supermarket Arvanitidis at the entrance to Nea Plagia and Lidl and Carrefour nearby Nea Mudania.

Next to the sea, at the beginning of Nea Flogita, there’s a green market with fresh fruits and vegetables opened every day until midnight.

Nea Flogita and Nea Plagia have an excellent location as they are close to Thessaloniki (ideal for sightseeing and shopping), Waterland aqua park, as well as to Sithonia and Kassandra peninsula.

If you like to explore, you can visit the wild beaches near these places, as well as the Petralona cave at the foot of the mountain.

There’s no nightlife in Nea Flogita and Nea Plagia, therefore, they primarily attract families with small children and all of those looking for a vacation in a true sense of the word.
