Nea Kallikratia is a town with about 10000 inhabitants, and it belongs to the Halkidiki region. It’s actually one of the nearest resorts to Thessaloniki and Serbia, located at the very beginning of Halkidiki, that is, Kassandra. It’s 35km away from Thessaloniki, and a little less from Kasandra and Sithonia, thus its location is pretty good.

Nea Kalliktratia is lively even during the winter. During the summer a population doubles, due to a great number of Thessaloniki citizens who own private houses.

There’s enough content for a complete and eventful summer holiday. First of all, it has a wide and long beach with fine sand, gradual depth and a shoal for children. The beach is arranged, with showers and changing rooms, sunbeds and umbrellas in most bars are free with the ordered drink or coffee. There are parts available for setting up your own beach umbrellas and towels.

Along the beach there’s a promenade with bars, restaurants, cafes and very beautiful gardens.

There are a few supermarkets in the town, Arvanitidis and Masoutis among them, and 2km from the town center you will find Lidl, so Kallikratia offers excellent possibilities for supplying. There are also banks, butcher shops, bakeries, post office and fast-food restaurants.

There is a park for children, in the shade of pines, at the square beside the sea.

Every Thursday there’s an open market where you can buy fresh and quality fruit and vegetables at lower prices, but also some clothes. Several stands with fruit and vegetables work every day.

In the city, there is a small, beautiful marina.

What can you visit near Nea Kalikratia?

Except for the fact that it has a nice sandy beach and that it’s a very lively place, a great advantage of Nea Kallikratia is the location. It’s only half an hour drive from Thessaloniki, ideal for shopping and pleasant stroll, sightseeing and visiting cultural and historical attractions, big shopping malls like Cosmos, Mega Outlet, Ikea, or the aqua park Waterland. If you want to, you can easily reach Kassandra and Sithonia from Nea Kallikratia.

In the vicinity of Nea Kallikratia, there’s a large number of Blue Flag beaches, so you can enjoy a little bit of researching. At just 2km from the center, there’s a famous beach Mikoniatika with a few nice beach bars. One of them is Corona (ex Capo Shape) with a big swimming pool in greenery. Entrance is 2e per person. Another beach bar we recommend is Aloha, located in a deep pine shade.

On another side of Nea Kallikrateia, there’s the most famous beach bar in this region and the biggest in Greece, Sahara Resort. Sahara is a long and wide beach with nice sand, music and beautiful sunsets. Sahara is must-see.
