How to pay your accommodation deposit with low fees: A guide to Paysend and Wise
Would you like to make a deposit to the accommodation owner in Greece, but the commission is too high?
There are online services such as Wise and Paysend, through which you can make money transfers to an account in Greece with minimal commission. In short, sending money through these platforms is a safe, fast, and efficient solution for transferring money abroad.
In this guide, we will explain step by step how to make a deposit via Paysend and Wise.
PAYSEND - the most affordable and reliable way to send money to Greece and abroad
You can use this service if you have a bank account and a card.
Simply register and then, with very simple steps, make the money transfer.
The account owner you are transferring to doesn’t need to have a registered account on this platform to receive the money in their account.
What is the commission for depositing through the Paysend service
The commission for depositing a deposit into the owner’s account in Greece up to €150 is fixed at 1.5€, and for amounts larger than that, it is 1% of the total amount.
When sending money, it is essential to specify the exact amount that the owner should receive to avoid charging the owner a commission.
If you have a card, we recommend using this method for sending the deposit, as it is indeed the most cost-effective.
Which cards and in which currency can you use the Paysend service
- Payment is possible with Visa and Mastercard from any bank except AIK and Dina cards (for Serbia).
- You can make payments in dinars or foreign currencies (in the currency supported by your card), and Paysend will convert the amount into euros based on its exchange rate.
- From your card, you can transfer to the owner’s account using the IBAN provided in the instructions.
- Therefore, when selecting the payment method, you need to choose the payment option from your card to a SEPA bank account, not to the owner’s card.
- Duration of the process: Money transfer typically takes up to 2 hours.
- Unfortunately, transfers from Bosnia and Herzegovina are not yet possible.

Common issues our guests encounter:
Sometimes Paysend may reject a payment for unknown reasons or request confirmation of the recipient’s identity.
If the reason is not specified, it is best to contact their customer service to explain why the payment was rejected.
If they require confirmation of the recipient’s identity, it is best to refrain from using that payment method. Based on our experience, even when the owner confirms their identity and provides all necessary information, the payment still fails for some unknown reason.
