Dassia - the most popular resort on the island of Corfu
Dasia, a small seaside village on the northeastern coast of Corfu, combines natural beauty with numerous tourist amenities, offering visitors a pleasant stay. Located between Gouvia and Ypsos, just 13 km from Corfu Town, Dasia is an excellent starting point for exploring the island and is one of its most popular holiday destinations.
Nestled at the foot of green, forested hills—after which it was named—Dasia is divided by the main road into a flatter area below and a more elevated, hilly section above. When choosing accommodation, it is recommended to consider whether it is situated above or below the main road, depending on your preference. However, since Dasia is a small settlement, everything is within easy reach, and even if you stay above the main road, the beach remains easily accessible.
Dasia Beach, which proudly holds the Blue Flag in some of its parts, stretches along the entire town. Though not particularly wide, it becomes quite narrow in its central part. The water is clear and shallow, while a mix of sand and fine pebbles on both the shore and seabed makes it ideal for families with children as well as water sports enthusiasts. The beach offers various activities, such as pedal boating, windsurfing, water skiing, parasailing, and other recreational sports. A large portion of the beach is organized, with sunbeds and umbrellas available either with a drink purchase at beach bars or for an additional fee. The remaining part is open to visitors with their own equipment. Additional amenities include showers, changing cabins, and ramps for people with disabilities. Natural shade is scarce but can be found at the far left side of the beach when facing the sea, where tall eucalyptus trees provide some relief from the sun.
At both ends of the beach, luxurious Ikos resort complexes are located, and the sandy sections of these hotels are reserved exclusively for their guests. Along the shoreline, numerous cafés, restaurants, and tavernas offer refreshing drinks and Greek specialties throughout the day.
Due to the popularity of this destination, crowds are common during peak season. Visitors arriving by car may find parking challenging. Arriving early is advised to secure a spot in the small streets leading to the beach; otherwise, parking along the main road and walking to the beach may be necessary. Additionally, the sun sets earlier here, so if you prefer morning sunbathing, Dasia Beach might be a better option, while the afternoon can be spent exploring the island’s western coast.
Dasia’s coastal promenade is lined with cafés, restaurants, and beach bars. The village also offers several local markets, pastry shops, bakeries, and pharmacies, ensuring that supplies are never an issue. Strolling through its narrow streets, filled with small shops, souvenir stores, and seaside cafés, provides a unique charm. The nightlife in Dasia is not particularly vibrant, as it is primarily a family-friendly destination. However, for those seeking a livelier atmosphere, Ipsos—just 2 km away—boasts numerous bars and entertainment venues that stay open until the early hours. Meanwhile, Dasia maintains a more relaxed ambiance, offering plenty of dining options in traditional tavernas and restaurants, where guests can enjoy local dishes and drinks accompanied by soothing music.
Dasia is also a great choice for those without a car, as it is well-connected by public transport. Bus services are frequent and easily accessible, with ticket prices to Corfu Town around 2€. Bus line 7 runs every 30 minutes.
Dasia is one of the island’s most visited destinations thanks to its prime location and beautiful coastline. This picturesque seaside village offers everything needed for a comfortable stay, from family-friendly villas and traditional-style apartments at affordable prices to luxurious hotels with private beaches and exclusive facilities.
Whether you’re looking for the perfect holiday retreat or an ideal base for exploring Corfu, Dasia has it all—surrounded by the scents of pine and lavender and offering breathtaking views of the endless blue Ionian Sea.
