Sani Festival – Stars on the Hill - Kassandra 2025.
For those vacationing in Kassandra and the surrounding area, this festival can be a splendid opportunity to enjoy the music of top performers under the open sky on the magical Sani Hill overlooking the Aegean coast.
The festival takes place every summer, and this summer awaits you the following!

July 12 – Buena Vista All Stars: “One Night in Havana” opens the festival
Buena Vista All Stars, with the original members of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club, open the festival with a unique concert under the stars. It will be an evening spectacle full of rhythm, passion, and timeless songs like Chan Chan and Dos Gardenias – all under the starry sky of Halkidiki.
Sani Hill is a natural elevation within the resort, overlooking the Aegean Sea. At the top, there is an open-air stage, among pine and olive trees, with ideal acoustics for summer concerts.

How to get to Sani Hill?
Sani Hill is located within the luxurious Sani Resort, on the western coast of Kassandra. The nearest major town is Nea Fokea (10 km), and you can reach Sani Beach by:
Car – approximately 85 km from Thessaloniki (about 1 hour 15 minutes drive), well-connected via Egnatia Highway and the regional roads of Halkidiki
Bus – regular KTEL Chalkidiki lines from Thessaloniki to Nea Fokea, then a taxi to the resort
On foot or by bike – if you are staying in the Sani area, the festival is easily accessible via coastal paths.
68th Philippi Festival - Summer 2025
A summer theater festival in one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in northern Greece - Philippi.
The program includes classical dramas, contemporary adaptations, and concerts by famous Greek artists.
The festival starts on July 2 and lasts until September 7.
The ancient theater of Philippi is located near Kavala, about a 15-minute drive towards the city of Drama. Read more about this ancient gem here.

July 29–30 – “Oedipus,” Sophocles
August 2 – “Oresteia,” Aeschylus
August 9 – “Stranger,” based on the Odyssey
August 13 – “Alone with Hamlet,” contemporary monodrama
August 27 – “The Lamb and the Goat,” based on Shakespeare
August 30–31 – “Andromache,” Euripides
September 7 – Closing concert: Giannis Haroulis

Athens and Epidaurus Festival 2025 - Αθηναϊκό και Επιδαύριο Φεστιβάλ 2025
A unique national festival with programs taking place in multiple locations: in Athens and in Epidaurus. The abbreviation “Epidaurus Festival” is often used in speech when referring to this festival.
The festival runs from June 27 to August 23, 2025.

This festival is one of the most important cultural events in Greece. It combines ancient tradition and contemporary artistic expression, offering a rich program in some of the most impressive performance spaces in Greece.
Performances are held at locations of historical significance, including:
- The Ancient Theater of Epidaurus
- The Odeon of Herodes Atticus - Herodion (at the foot of the Acropolis)
- The Little Theater of Epidaurus
- Piraeus 260 (an industrial complex turned arts center)
- The Lycabettus Hill Stage\, renovated for this season
The program includes:
Greek tragedies and classics in their original setting
Contemporary theater productions
Concerts, dance and music performances
Performances by local and international artists
Notable performers and performances:
- The National Theater of Greece performs Sophocles’ “Antigone” on the Great Stage of Epidaurus (June 27–29)\, directed by Ulrich Rasche.
- The Poreia Theater brings “Elektra” in a classical interpretation\, also in Epidaurus (July 4–5).
- The production of “Oedipus at Colonus” directed by Yannis Houvardas is scheduled for the end of July (July 25–26).
Music and Opera:
- The Greek National Opera performs at the Herodion\, with a repertoire that includes classical works and contemporary Greek composers.
- On the Small Stage of Epidaurus\, Maria Farandouri and Tasis Christoyannis perform songs by Mikis Theodorakis in an emotional tribute to the Greek composer.
- The program also includes a performance of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4\, with soloist Regula Milman and the Utopia Orchestra.
Contemporary Forms and Conceptual Works:
- The festival presents for the first time a film adaptation of “Electra” in collaboration with the Greek Film Academy – seven directors interpret Sophocles in a contemporary key.
- The performance “Etymologies”\, an original work by Efthimis Filipou and Angeliki Papouli\, explores the roots of language and myth through visual art.
Educational and family programs:
- “Parodos” and “Little Trackers” are programs for children and youth that introduce the youngest to ancient drama and mythology.
- Workshops such as “Thēbae Desertae” (July 4–5) and “Cries” (July 11–12) invite the audience to active participation and dialogue.
