You have purchased Nikana eSIM, installed it, but the internet is not working? Do not worry, in most cases, the solution is quick and usually hidden in one “button” that is either turned off or on.
Here is a list of the most common situations and how to solve them yourself, right away.
GOLDEN RULE: Never delete the eSIM profile from settings if the internet is not working! Once deleted, the QR code is permanently lost, and unfortunately, you will have to buy a new package.
- Therefore, never delete the eSIM profile if the internet is not working - first try all other solutions or contact us at support@nikana-esim.com and we will assist you.
Issue 1: I installed the eSIM, but I have no internet (No signal)
This is the most common situation when crossing the border.
Solution:
- 1. Enable Data Roaming: In the settings for Nikana eSIM, the “Data Roaming” option must be enabled. Do not worry, there are no additional costs, it is just a permission for the card to use the local network (to connect to the network of the country you entered).
- 2. Select the primary card: Go to Mobile Data and make sure that Nikana eSIM is selected for the internet, not your home card.
- 3. Quick “network refresher” (Airplane mode): If you have enabled roaming and still have no internet, turn on Airplane mode for 10 seconds, then turn it off. This will force your phone to search for the nearest and strongest signal again. This is often the “magical” click.
- 4. Restart your phone: If it still does not work, restart your phone.
In most cases, these settings were missing, and the internet started working immediately after these steps. To avoid waiting for a response and to reduce stress and frustration, try it yourself. If you are not sure, contact us, we will always help and respond as quickly as possible.
Issue: Phone says “QR code is not valid”
Do not panic! This is a common message you send us. The situation when your phone sends a message that the QR code is not valid and that you have already scanned the code even if you have not completed the process.
What actually happened? Your Nikana eSIM is most likely already in your phone, just waiting to be activated.
- Phone is faster than the screen: The moment the camera frames the QR code, your device retrieves the data. Even if the circle is still spinning on the screen (Loading), or you think the process has “frozen,” or you clicked back — your phone often registers the profile in those few seconds.
- One-time entry ticket: Each eSIM code is like a unique, one-time password (ticket) - once the phone “reads” it, that code becomes unusable for re-scanning for security reasons.
Solution:
Instead of rescanning, do the following:
1. Find it in settings
- iPhone: Go to Settings > Cellular. Look at the list under your number. Do you see a new line (often called “Travel,” “Business,” or simply “eSIM”)? That is your Nikana profile.
- Android: Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager. Check the list of eSIM profiles.
2. Activate it
- Click on that profile and make sure the Turn On This Line option is activated.
3. Select it for internet
- In the same menu (Mobile Data), set the phone to use Nikana eSIM for internet, not your home card.
4. Check “Data Roaming”
- This is a crucial step - go to the settings of Nikana eSIM itself and make sure Data Roaming is enabled.
5. Go to Network Selection
- Check if ‘Automatic’” is enabled.
6. Check network mode (4G/LTE)
Although many phones support 5G today, in many areas, 4G (LTE) is a more stable option.
- iPhone: Go to Settings > Cellular > click on your eSIM line > Voice & Data and select LTE.
- Android: Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Network mode and choose 4G or LTE (depending on the phone model) + auto connect.
- Note: On Android, this is often a long string with “auto connect.”

Question: What if I am in a place with poor signal?
One of the key advantages of Nikana eSIM is that it allows you to connect to multiple mobile networks in most countries. For example, in Greece, you can connect to all three available networks (Cosmote, Vodafone, and Nova), which directly affects better coverage and a higher chance of having a signal wherever you are. However, to make the most of this advantage, it is important to understand how your phone chooses a network:
- Initial connection: When you enter a country, your device will connect to the network that has a good signal at that moment.
- What happens during the journey: During the journey, that signal may weaken, while at the same time, the signal of another network becomes stronger. In that case, the eSIM does not change the network selection automatically.
- Phone’s automation: If the “Automatic network selection” option on your device is enabled, it will switch to another network only when the original signal becomes sufficiently weak.
Our advice for the best internet: Do not wait for the phone to decide on its own. If you notice that the internet has slowed down, go to network settings and try all available operators manually. Select the network that works best at your current location.
Black spots (Blind spots): It is important to have realistic expectations - where there is a signal from one operator, you will have internet. However, in every country, there are places where no network has coverage (inaccessible mountains or wild coves). If there is no signal for the local population in that place, there will be no signal on the eSIM either.
- You can check the coverage of various operators worldwide on this website, and we have chosen coverage for Greece as an example: nPerf Global Coverage Map.
