The beach of Porto Vathy Marble Beach is located about 7km from Limenas. To reach it, follow the signs for Markiamos Beach. When you reach the ramp for Markiamos, continue right on the dusty road for another 4.5km without turning.
You will first reach Marble (Saliara) Beach, and then after about 500m, Porto Vati. It is a small beach, but equally beautiful as Marble Beach.
The sand on the shore and in the water is of light marble color, while the sea is turquoise and clear.
The large beach bar that used to exist is no longer operational, so you need to bring all the equipment and refreshments you need.
- The beach is now only for tourists with their own equipment.
There is no shade, but since it is marble, the marble gravel as a base is not scorching, making it somewhat easier to bear. This beach is visited for the incredible color of the water.
It is a great alternative if you arrive late and there is no more space at the Marble Beach.
Or if you want to avoid the crowds and noise at Marble Beach.
There are two large barrel-shaped objects in the sea. We have not found out what they are for, but they are interesting for everyone to swim to and jump from.
In the far right corner, right next to the rocks (just below the road), there is a spot on the rock where there is a little shade, so if you arrive early and are not with children, you can occupy that spot (also shown in the photograph).
Parking is free, but the number of spots is limited, so it is best to arrive at the beach early in the morning to find a spot. You can also park at the large parking lot near Marble Beach and walk to Porto Vati. The distance is about 500m.
On this stretch, within just 5km, there are four phenomenal beaches: Markiamos, Marble, Porto Vati, and Vati.
- They are all beautiful in their own way and each deserves at least a few hours of your time.
There is also a road to these beaches from Golden Beach, but it is longer, rough, and winding.
- We do not recommend it if you want a shorter and better route.
