Accommodation description
Discovery Hotel is located at the entrance to Limenaria, on the left side of the highway when coming from the direction of Skala Maries. It is about 800m from the center, and about 260m from the sea.
It is a newer hotel with a swimming pool and bar, a furnished lobby with a reception desk and well-equipped studios and apartments. Next to the hotel, on a large earthen extension, there is enough parking space.
Studios and apartments are available on the ground floor, on the first and second floors, designed for the stay of two to five people. The entrance to the hotel from the front is at the level of the high ground floor, while from the back it is the first floor.
There are 17 accommodation units on offer, including: - three economy double studios on the ground floor with one double bed - six standard double studios on the first or second floor with one double bed - one economy triple studio on the ground floor with a double and a single bed - one economy apartment for four people, on the ground floor, with a double bed in one bedroom and two single beds joined together in the other bedroom, the kitchen is in the hall - one junior suite (superior four-bed studio) on the ground floor with a double bed and two single beds - three standard four-bed apartments with two double beds on the first or second floor. - two superior five-bed apartments on the second floor, with two double beds and one single bed
Each accommodation unit has air conditioning (two in the apartments), TV, internet, safe, hairdryer, mosquito nets, as well as a kitchen with a standard refrigerator, hotplate, kettle and coffee maker. The ground floor units have private enclosed verandas and overlook the courtyard, while the upstairs units have private balconies and overlook the mountains and pool.
The hotel has a swimming pool, with a separate children’s section. Around the pool are sun loungers, parasols, a shower and a bar. There is a built-in barbecue and a children’s playground in the courtyard.
A buffet breakfast is available for an additional fee, served every morning from 08:30 to 10:30.
Towels and bed linen are provided and changed every three days, and cleaning is done daily.
Pets are allowed, in agreement with the owners.
The hotel is located outside the center, at the very entrance to Limenaria, and it takes only 5-6 minutes to walk to the promenade and main facilities. The accommodation is of high quality, while the location itself may not be particularly attractive, but it is quite good as a starting point for touring the island and beaches. Limenaria is located in the south of the island, so most of the beautiful beaches are relatively easy to reach. The beach is 2-3 minutes away from the Discovery Hotel, although it is not among the best (especially for families with children due to the rocks in the water), it can be a practical solution on days when you don’t feel like driving to further beaches.

A family of four with two children visited in the first half of August 2013. Upon arrival in front of the hotel, my wife exited the car and checked in at the reception to confirm whether we were at the right place and if our reservation was in order. The first thing she was told was that the reservation was indeed confirmed, but they immediately requested payment for the hotel before we even unloaded our belongings from the car, which left a very unpleasant first impression regarding the staff's attitude. The hotel building is beautiful, yet poorly located; one side overlooks an unsightly unfinished construction very close by, while the other side faces the mountainous area and a dusty rural road, along with a dusty platform where the wind blows and covers you in dust. On that side of the hotel, during the day, an unpleasant odor can be detected (a garbage container, sewage, or who knows what). Additionally, there is a road frequently used by very noisy vehicles, especially in the morning when guests are still asleep. The husband of the hotel owner starts his motocross bike early in the morning with a very unpleasant sound and leaves almost every 30 minutes, which provides you with an unpleasant wake-up call each morning. A nervous housekeeper enters the apartments to clean, and she does so so loudly that she inevitably wakes up guests in the neighboring apartments. Nevertheless, she does her job well, leaving everything clean and shiny. The nervous housekeeper loves to, so to speak, 'throw' plastic chairs on the terrace she cleans, which gives you 'great pleasure' while you are still sleeping in the adjacent apartment. The rooms and terraces are decent, but the beds are a poor choice due to sharp edges that inevitably scrape your legs as you walk by. The cutlery was so dirty and unwashed. The bathrooms are solid, but the ventilation for moisture is weak. During bathing, after returning from the beach, the water often runs out, and when you ask the staff, they inquire if you really need water. A comment on this is superfluous! Access to the wireless internet on the hotel floor is terrible, requiring you to go down to the lobby if you need to use the internet. It would be harsh to continue with further comments, but I would never return to this hotel. We paid for the hotel to relax, and for that amount, everything must be ensured, yet we did not feel comfortable.

Vacation through the travel agency Atlantic. I stayed between July 15 and August 15, 2011; I do not remember the exact date. To my great sorrow, I have nothing to recommend for a vacation in Thassos. Accommodation: aside from the strange situation, in a triple room you will find not three beds, but two and one extra bed, which resembles more of an upholstered bench than a bed, with a dining table for three people measuring 40 cm in diameter, chairs with a maximum load of 50 kg, and the room itself (triple) is so small that two people cannot pass each other. As for the hosts, they are cold-blooded and uninterested, except for the money that is paid to them, extra charges for air conditioning, and rushing to evict you from the rooms. The description of the villa states that it is 100 m from the beach, which is indeed true, but it is from a beach where no one swims. If you manage to approach it, you will be greeted by armies of hedgehogs tasked with defending the beach. If you want to go to a real beach, you must drive 40-60 km to reach it. To get to those beaches, you must travel on unpaved roads filled with dust and potholes. And parking is a story in itself. Bakeries are in the very center of the town, regular shops, ridiculous restaurants, and the promenades are unclear to me what they refer to. I do not know what I could recommend, except to advise you to look for another vacation destination.
