Tourism was once a privilege of the wealthy. Fortunately, in recent years, both closer and further destinations have become accessible to us, the common folk.

Traveling and vacations are the most precious periods during the year, so they should be planned in advance and in detail.

Greece has a very diverse and long coastline (13,676km) with thousands and thousands of resorts, small and large, and several hundred inhabited islands. This means that in Greece there are certainly many resorts that are perfect just for you, but they need to be found :)

How to do it?

To choose the perfect destination for yourself and your family, it is important to first know what your priorities are when choosing and what criteria your destination needs to meet in order for you to be satisfied with your choice.

After making a list of everything you like and dislike on vacation (sandy or pebbly beach, lively place or Robinson Crusoe vacation, distance from your city, hilly or flat terrain, island or mainland), start researching.

If you are busy, work a lot, and do not have time to research, visit specialized tourism websites on the internet that have quality guides, or contact agents who are well acquainted with Greek resorts. You can consult with our agents via email: nikana@nikana.gr and check out our guide for destinations in Greece that we offer here.

Based on our experience, we believe that mistakes in choosing a destination can be completely avoided if you just inform yourself a little before making a decision.

In our opinion, you should first choose a destination and then choose accommodation, not the other way around.

It is also wrong to visit an agency, either in person or online, and decide on a destination based solely on what that agency offers. There are still thousands of other places and islands in Greece that you can organize yourself, without the agency’s mediation, especially if you have your own car.

What tourists complain most about when they make the wrong choice of location is the following:

  • The place is either too small and deserted or too noisy and overcrowded.
  • The place lacks large supermarkets for supplies.
  • The place lacks parks and facilities for children.
  • The city beach is not suitable (lack of shallowness, sudden depth, waves, narrowness, beach crowding, lack of space for visitors with their own equipment, no showers, no natural shade).
  • The place is hilly.
  • The city beach is outside the city.
  • The place lacks a pharmacy, clinic, veterinary service, butcher shop…

All this information is easily accessible on the internet, and there is no reason for your vacation to be ruined simply by not knowing it.
