Every year before the season starts in Greece, stories start buzzing, some in the media, some in social media how all the prices in Greece are gone up. This year, more than ever, the story is going through all the media, as the price hikes have not only affected Greece but the whole world.

Prices of some things have really gone up, but in the same level with the global pace. We believe that holidays can still be organised in Greece without some big budgets. There are supermarkets close to many resorts, frequent discounts, and there are markets and more affordable restaurants and fast food places.

Almost all of the accommodation facilities we have on offer have a kitchen included, so if you want to save or fit into a budget our advice is to supply in the markets and prepare the food in accommodation. Not only food, you can take with you transport mugs and bring coffee to the beach or drink your coffee in the morning on the balcony of your accommodation, and search for a part of the beach where you can freely put your umbrella and towel without paying for sunbeds.

You can always find a way to save money, and you will certainly organize your budget and preferences. We share some of the prices in Greece with you, and in the summer we will be reporting to you from the scene.

If you didn’t book your holidays yet, these are the accommodation in Greece that we have on offer on our site.

Fruit and vegetable prices change during the season, as everywhere else in the world, so at the beginning of the season it is the most expensive, after the price drops and again it goes up at the end of the season.

Prices in Greece in 2023

The media always pumps up the whole story a little bit, including this year’s price hikes in Greece, but I advise you not to look at prices in the newspapers, but to see for yourself, and that can best be done through the online catalogue of the supermarket chains present in Greece. Catalogues in Greek markets usually include products that are currently on discount, but in markets in Greece often during the season, some basic foods are on discount.

These are the websites of supermarket chains in Greece where you can check prices. If you don’t speak Greek, and the site doesn’t have an English option, then you can, if you’re on a computer, right-click somewhere on the side of the site into an empty space and select “Translate to English”, and when you do, it will offer you the option to choose a different language, and do so by clicking on these three upright points and selecting “choose another language” and then select what is best for you.

If you’re looking at a website from your phone, for example in Chrome, you go to three vertical dots in the upper-right corner and select translate (if your chrome and your phone are in English) and then you’ll have Greek and English in the lower part of the screen, and in the right corner, three dots you click, select “More language” and language you need.

There’s another world-famous site that’s full of price information in many cities around the world and what’s good is updated daily. We used it for many trips and more or less informations were good, only we were always able to find cheaper options for restaurants. The site is called Numbeo and you can look for prices in some slightly larger Greek places. Here are the average prices in Greece https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/country_result.jsp?country=Greece
