TAG Devices and Payment
- TAG/e-pass: works on all highways in Greece (GRITS system).
- Payment: cash, card, or TAG.
- Advantage: faster passage, no waiting in line.
- How to order a TAG
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Payment: card or cash?
You can pay with cash and cards (Visa, Master). Always have some change with you in case the terminal at a toll booth is not working.
- Important: Cash and card payments are only made at lanes with an operator in the booth.
How does the TAG (e-pass) work?
Place the device on the dashboard near the windshield. The toll booth automatically reads and deducts the amount from your account.
- One TAG for all: Thanks to the GRITS system, one device (e.g., Egnatia Pass) is valid on all highways in Greece.
- Acquisition: You can order it to your home address or pick it up for free at the entrance to Greece with the first credit top-up.
Are prices higher during the summer?
No. There are no seasonal tariffs in Greece. Prices remain the same throughout the year, changing only by decision of the state (last change on January 1, 2026).
