If you do not have your own or rented vehicle on Thassos, you will be able to travel from place to place by buses that circulate around the island according to a precisely determined schedule. These buses do not resemble city buses in larger towns in Serbia at all, but rather look like tourist, air-conditioned buses of a higher class specifically designed for significantly longer journeys than those you can realistically have on Thassos.

Bus tickets are not expensive, especially compared to taxi prices. From Limenas to places in the far south (Limenaria, Pefkari, Potos), and vice versa, you can reach for around 5.40€ – 5.60€ by bus, while a taxi on that route is around 45€. On the other hand, a taxi is more cost-effective for shorter distances if you use it with two or three other people (e.g. on the Potos - Limenaria route, the ride is around 5-6€). The minimum price of a bus ticket for shorter distances is around 2.20€. Tickets are bought at kiosks near the stations or directly on the bus. If you carry inflatable mattresses or other bulkier luggage with you, you can hand it over to the driver or conductor before boarding the bus, who will place it in the lower luggage compartment of the bus, specifically designed for suitcases.

Important note for planning: The schedule is not the same throughout the year, and it changes several times during the summer season as the number of tourists increases. Also, different timetables apply for weekdays (Monday - Friday), Saturday, and Sunday. The only drawback of this transportation is that in the pre-season, the last departures to Limenas are organized around 5 p.m., which is quite early for returning from the beaches. This also means that you cannot go to the nightlife in Limenas from other places, because there are no late evening departures in that direction. From Limenas to the south of the island, the last bus departs around 5:30 p.m. (during the peak season, this departure can be postponed until 7:30 p.m.).

To make it easier for you to navigate, here is the current official bus schedule and ticket prices for the period from June 1st to June 14th, 2026 (from Monday to Friday), divided by main stations:

Departures from the capital (Limenas / Thassos Town)

• To Golden Beach: 09:45, 11:30, 14:15, 16:15 (Price: 2.40 €)
• To Skala Potamie: 07:00, 09:45, 11:30, 13:00, 14:00, 16:15 (Price: 2.20 €)
• To Panagia and Potamie (villages): 07:00, 09:45, 11:30, 13:00, 14:00, 16:15 (Price: 2.20 €)
• To Limenaria and Potos: 06:20, 09:15, 11:15, 13:00, 14:50, 17:30 (Price: 5.40 € - 5.60 €)
• To Skala Prinos: 06:20, 09:15, 11:15, 13:00, 14:50, 17:30 (Price: 2.40 €)
• To the mountain village of Theologos: 09:15, 13:00, 14:50 (Price: 7.00 €)

Departures from the south of the island (Potos and Limenaria)

• From Potos to Skala Prinos and Limenas: 06:10, 08:50, 10:50, 12:35, 14:30, 16:35 (Price: 3.60 € - 5.60 €)
• From Limenaria to Skala Prinos and Limenas: 06:20, 09:00, 11:00, 12:45, 14:40, 16:45 (Price: 3.40 € - 5.40 €)
• To the village of Theologos (famous for lamb dishes):
  • From Potos: 07:25, 10:20, 14:00, 16:00 (Price: 2.20 €)
  • From Limenaria: 10:15, 14:00, 15:50 (Price: 2.20 €)

Return from the east coast (Golden Beach and Skala Potamia) to Limenas

• From Golden Beach: 10:20, 12:10, 14:50, 16:50 (Price: 2.40 €)
• From Skala Potamie: 07:35, 10:30, 12:15, 13:30, 14:30, 16:40 (Price: 2.20 €)
• From Panagia: 07:45, 10:45, 12:25, 13:40, 14:40, 16:50 (Price: 2.20 €)
• From Potamie: 07:40, 10:40, 12:20, 13:20, 14:20, 16:35 (Price: 2.20 €)
  • Significant note for Potamie: The bus does not enter the narrow streets within the village, but stops only on the main (circular) road outside the village. Do not wait at the central stations, but get off at the main bypass.

Departures from the west coast (Prinos, Skala Kallirachi, Skala Sotiros, Pachis) to Limenas

• From Skala Rachoni and Pachis Beach: 07:00, 09:45, 11:35, 13:35, 15:30, 17:30 (Price: 2.20 €)
• From Skala Prinos (port): 06:55, 09:40, 11:30, 13:30, 15:20, 17:20 (Price: 2.40 €)
• From Skala Sotiros: 06:40, 09:20, 11:20, 13:05, 15:00, 17:05 (Price: 3.00 €)
• From Skala Kallirachi: 06:40, 09:20, 11:20, 13:05, 15:00, 17:05 (Price: 3.40 €)
• From the village of Theologos: 06:00, 07:45, 10:40, 16:15 (Price: 7.00 €)
