How much does a vacation in Greece really cost this season? Forget about dramatic headlines and speculations - we bring you a direct report from the field and prices from the markets for the summer of 2026.
To gain a clear picture of average expenses, we have chosen Masoutis as our reference point. This chain is excellently positioned and available in almost all resorts - its prices are slightly higher than in Lidl, but the range and availability are incomparably better. Of course, you will also come across smaller, local shops at the destinations where some items may be cheaper or more expensive, but these prices provide you with a secure initial budget.
Gyros and fast food
- Gyros (in pita/tortilla): Generally ranges from 4.90€ to 5.00€. In Paralia, it can also be found for 4.50€, while in Thessaloniki, the price varies significantly from 3.50€ to 6.00€.
- Portions in fast food restaurants: Around 10.00€ (large portion of gyro, sausages, burgers, chicken or pork fillet, meatballs, as well as a club sandwich). Each portion comes with fries and salad as standard.
Coffee and drinks
- Takeaway coffee: From 2.50€ to 3.00€ (depending on the place and café).
- Coffee and beer in local establishments: Prices follow the gyro trend and are generally around 4.90€ - 5.00€ on average.
