Detailed description:
Hanioti is becoming increasingly popular as a resort, slowly taking the lead from the years-long most attractive Pefkohori.
A large area of Hanioti has been transformed into a pedestrian zone, with 5-6 streets branching off from the central square, where a large fountain is located. These streets are also closed to traffic in the evening and are filled with shops catering to tourists and apartments for rent. In addition to the square and the surrounding streets, there is a promenade along the sea and the beach, as well as a beautifully landscaped park. Parallel to the sea, there is another street available to pedestrians. In this part of Hanioti, there is a beautiful church, and the wider center is also nicely arranged, allowing you to enjoy a walk on beautiful tree-lined streets.
Hanioti offers plenty of activities for children. Indoor and outdoor play areas, a shady park with a large number of toys in the sand, a small amusement park, and a small football field with artificial turf ensure that children in Hanioti are never bored.
Hanioti comes alive in the evening hours when all visitors gather on the promenades. Stalls open where tourists stop to browse the goods, lining all the streets in the pedestrian zone. Everything resembles a cheerful, festive atmosphere.
Hanioti has everything necessary for a very fulfilling vacation: two large supermarkets and plenty of small grocery stores throughout the town, souvenir shops, numerous taverns and restaurants, fast-food kiosks, cafes, clothing stores, post office, medical clinics accepting insurance from Serbia, pharmacies, car rental agencies, bakeries, pizzerias, street vendors of fruits and vegetables, and other goods. During your stay in Hanioti, one thing is certain - you will not lack anything.
Beach in Hanioti:
The town beach in Hanioti is very long, with sand and fine gravel, and a gradual depth. It has been awarded the Blue Flag, indicating that the beach and its surroundings are regularly maintained. The sea is clean and transparent, with no seaweed or jellyfish during the peak season. The beach is wider at its edges, with finer sand towards Pefkohori and more rocky towards Polychrono.
Along the sea, there is a narrow promenade with benches, as well as a beautiful park with natural shade that bathers use during the day for sunbathing and shelter from the sun.
Above the park, there are a large number of well-arranged taverns and coffee bars.
The town beach is beautiful enough to enjoy during your vacation, but if you want a change, just a kilometer from Hanioti towards Pefkohori, you will find the stylish Molos bar, popular among young people. The beach in front of Molos is well-kept and regularly cleaned, with fine sand. Sunbeds and umbrellas are provided with a drink order, and the bar also offers light meals. This part of the beach is wide and features a volleyball net and a small playground for children.
The famous Xenia Beach in Paliouri is 13km away from Hanioti, perfect for all generations, especially for young children due to its very fine sand and long shallow waters.
What to visit?
From nearby places, you can visit Pefkohori, which is only 4km away, Polychrono (4.5km), and Nea Skioni, which is just 10km away via the mountain road. We recommend visiting Kallithea (16km), which has a fantastic beach and a very beautiful town. For the most authentic experience on Kassandra, the lovely Afytos is 18km away and you can visit it on the same day as Kallithea since they are very close.
All of these places, as well as Xenia Beach, can be visited by local bus. The bus stop is located next to the Lemonis bakery. The ticket to Xenia costs 2e. You can also walk to Pefkohori (4km) via the old road, a leisurely walk taking less than an hour. The path is lit and has a sidewalk.
At local tourist agencies, you can book excursions to Mount Athos, Sithonia, Kelifos Island (Turtle), Thessaloniki, and Waterland, or boat cruises to the most beautiful beaches in Kassandra.
