Description

Skala is located in the southeast of the island. It is known as a quiet resort with a beautiful sandy beach in about 3 km in length and crystal clear water.

The Skala beach is fully arranged. It is one of the most popular beaches in Kefalonia and it's very spacious and wide so it gives visitors enough space to feel comfortable and enjoy privacy. During the summer season, various water sports, restaurants and bars are available to tourists, some of which are on the beach, mini markets and souvenir shops as well.

In the hinterland of the beach, near the central square of Skala, there is a beautiful pine forest, from where the pleasant and relaxing scent and freshness spreads all over to the beach.

Nearby Skala, towards the west, there is a place called Katelios, also known as Agia Varvara, nearby of which there are several smaller sandy beaches. On the beach with the same name, surrounded by eucalyptus trees, there is a tavern with fresh sea fish. The beach is sandy with a gradual entrance into the water.

Next to it is the beach Kaminia, and at the end of the bay there is a beach Potamakia, the shelter of Caretta Caretta turtles that place eggs in this place, so accordingly the stay for tourists is limited until before dusk.

To the north of Skala, along the road leading to Poros, there are several smaller beaches. After about 12km of easy driving along the coast, you reach the port of Poros, where the ferries of the Levante Ferries company go to place named Kilini, in Peloponnese.

Poros is a small town with a beautiful but narrow city beach with a combination of sand and pebble. In the hinterland of the beach there is a central promenade with a large number of taverns with open-air gardens, and souvenir shops. Behind the beach is a paved plateau with benches where you can enjoy sea view. Unlike other bigger places on the island, this port is not too visited by tourists, it's not too busy and crowded, so the city is full of peace and tranquility.
