Accommodation description
Mathios Cottages are located near the beach Psili Ammos. It is modest accommodation with wooden furniture and it is surrounded with olive trees, isolated from the chaos and traffic.
Mathios is located 250 meters away from the beach Psili Ammos. The beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds which you can use if you order a drink, and there is also bar and restaurant. First supermarket is 1km away in Astris, while Potos is 5 km far.
In the huge yard there are situated two buildings. One building has two studios and the other has one bigger apartment.
The first bungalow (60m2) consists of two studios, one with three and one with four beds. Furniture is classic, wooden, while accommodation is modest and decent, like a cottage with enough space. Both studios are composed of a kitchen, air conditioning, TV and very large balcony.
Triple studio (30m2) has 3 single beds but one extra bed can be added.
Quadruple studio (30m2) has one double and two single beds.
Another bungalow (50m2) is apartment that consists of two rooms. Bedroom has double bed and one single bed while living room has kitchen and 3 more single beds. This bungalow has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, large terrace with outdoor seating.
All the units have kitchen, bathroom, balcony, mosquito nets, TV, A/C and internet.
Cleaning and change of towels and linen is done every 4 days.
The yard in which are the bungalows is huge, full of olive trees, and includes a barbecue with chairs and tables. The garden is fenced and with gate that locks.
There is enough parking space available inside the yard, so you can park your car near the bungalow if you wish.
When you get to the beach Psili Amos, you will see a narrow dirt road that leads to the left of the main road, drive on it about 300 meters and you’ll come to the gate of Mathios bungalows.
Although the bungalows are isolated, you need only 5 minutes drive to Potos, where you’ll find everything you need of groceries. Potos also offers a wide selection of restaurants, shops, taverns, fast food restaurants, nightlife and the promenade with lots of people.
For smaller purchases you can reach the dragstore at Psili Amos in 2 minutes, or in 5 minutes drive to Astris which has two shops that are decently supplied, and you will find few restaurants in Astris.
If you don’t need luxury but a quiet holiday away from noise and traffic, close to one of the most beautiful, sandy beaches on the island, this accommodation can be the right choice.

As far as we are concerned, this is the ideal accommodation. Three apartments in an olive grove, isolated from noise, outside the village, yet well connected. Psili Amos beach is located just below the accommodation, a five-minute walk if you don’t want to go further. It is one of the prettier beaches, featuring a sandy section, a rocky area, sunshades, natural shade, a restaurant—everything you need. We prefer less crowded beaches, and our favorite was Agia Anna, which is practically in the next cove. You can walk there; I think it shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes. It is advisable to come by car, both for the opportunity to visit other beaches and for shopping. The owner of the apartments also runs a supermarket nearby, about 2 km from the accommodation, but it’s not very pleasant to walk along the main road. It’s about 5-6 km to Potos and the supermarket. The accommodation looks much better than in the pictures. It is quite "minimalist", but realistically has everything you need. We spent most of our time outside, on the beach and on the terrace. There is air conditioning, but it wasn’t necessary. It was always pleasant at night. The terraces are arranged so that you can choose to socialize with the neighbors or not. The owner is an older man, an exceptionally interesting character, who occasionally comes to water the olives and is quite fluent in English. You can change the bedding and towels whenever you want; just take the old ones to the market and receive new, clean ones. For those who value peace and privacy and enjoy exploring the island, without focusing on evening strolls and nightlife in the city, this is ideal.

We were extremely satisfied with the apartment. The internet was excellent, and the space was tidy. The beautiful courtyard with a serene view of the sea exceeded our expectations. We met the owner, a very nice and cultured man, who gifted our children fruits and ice cream, and gave us a keepsake. This was a wonderful experience, and we would choose the same accommodation again if we returned to Thassos. If you desire peace and freedom, along with a yard where children can play as if they were at home, this is a perfect choice. The beach is just two minutes away and is excellent. We are very pleased.
