An unobtrusive host, a comfortable apartment, and proximity to the beach and markets. Highly recommended.

In a word, fantastic. An excellent accommodation in the form of a studio, just as I expected. To my surprise, the bedding was changed and the room was cleaned after three days of stay. A spacious terrace with a view of the sea, and Atspas beach is located about thirty steps from the property. The hosts, as well as the entire staff, are very courteous. The restaurant within the accommodation is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. All in all, a lovely and pleasant experience.

A typical Greek accommodation with, to our delight, a spacious terrace that overlooks the sea. The owners are kind and ready to assist if anything is needed. They even provided us with a high chair from their restaurant to take to our room for the baby.

We spent 12 days in the Porto Gatos studio during August, just the two of us adults and our two children. The studio was impeccably clean, and the linens were changed every three days. The owners were exceptionally kind and accommodating. There is also a fantastic restaurant within the accommodation. Everything we tried was phenomenal! The accommodation is located across from the Sugar Beach, which the children adore for its long shallow waters, fine sand, and crystal-clear water. We wholeheartedly recommend the Porto Gatos studio! Excellent accommodation, a great location for sightseeing, a terrace with a view of the sea, waking up to the sound of waves, and a beach right in front of the accommodation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The accommodation is even better than it appears in the pictures. The apartment has been renovated and is exceptionally clean. The change of bed linen and towels occurred every three days, as stated. The host is very pleasant and makes an effort to please the guests. The breakfast included in the accommodation price is basic, but entirely sufficient to keep one from being hungry until lunch. The large terrace combined with the sunset and soft music from the café below creates a winning combination for enjoyment.

An excellently positioned accommodation above a beautiful sandy beach. Impeccably clean, though not overly comfortable (the bathroom is a bit small). However, all shortcomings are compensated by the phenomenal terrace. A minor note is that the description of the accommodation mentions that the tavern on the ground floor operates until 12:30-1:00 AM, not until 10:00 PM.

The area of Skala Maries where this accommodation is located is a tranquil place with a well-maintained promenade adorned with plenty of flowers and greenery. The property is new, beautifully arranged, and clean. It is situated in an excellent location, right next to a lovely sandy beach. The studio is spacious, featuring a large terrace that offers a view of the beach and the sea all the way to Mount Athos. I would advise the hosts to better equip the kitchen with utensils and at least one sharp knife, as well as to strengthen the Wi-Fi signal.

In August 2013, my girlfriend and I were accommodated in the "Porto Gatos" apartments, and we were truly delighted with the accommodation (the view, the terrace, the cleanliness of the property) that we had booked online with the help of Nikana. Right near the apartments is a beach, which is certainly one of the advantages of the location of these apartments, but we recommend that, especially if you have a car, you take the time to explore various beaches. On the Nikana website, you can find more detailed instructions and descriptions of the beaches, which were extremely helpful to us when selecting beaches. We were particularly impressed by the beach near the monastery.

My family and I arrived in the second half of June. We were welcomed by Georgios, whom we frequently encountered during our first days. He was exceptionally courteous. As it pertains to the family business, the rest of the family became more present later on. The apartment is clean and beautifully decorated; everything still feels new and unused. The bedding is changed every third day. The location is excellent, and although there is a café on the ground floor, it closes at 8 PM, so its presence is hardly felt. The only potential disturbance to the peace could come from noisy guests in neighboring houses, but that has nothing to do with the accommodation itself. It is worth considering a return visit.

Family-oriented, with my wife and son. We visited in early September, and our experiences were generally positive, primarily because there were no crowds on the island and prices were more affordable, especially for accommodation. Kudos to the agency that quickly found several options that were available, and the offers on the website were entirely adequate to the actual situation, very realistic.

I stayed in Porto Gatos with my family in the first half of August, and we truly had a wonderful time. The location itself is exceptionally well-placed, offering a direct view of the sea and the beautiful Atspas beach. The accommodations are clean and bright, with rooms being regularly tidied and bed linens changed every three days. The owners of the house are kind and unobtrusive, always having at least one of them present in case you need assistance. On the ground floor of the house, there is a café that plays gentle and pleasant music throughout the day, closing around eight or nine in the evening, ensuring a peaceful night. Occasionally, there is a bit of noise when people come for a midnight swim, but it’s not bothersome. The previously mentioned awnings on the terraces are still nonexistent, despite the entire wooden structure being set up. Nevertheless, with the sunshade, it is not a problem to enjoy the terrace, except during the peak sun hours when you wouldn’t be able to sit outside even with awnings. Skala Maries itself is a charming little place with several lovely taverns, a bakery that makes excellent bread, and two markets (one in the center and one at the exit of the village). There is even a small playground for children. Skala Maries is certainly not for those who enjoy nightlife and numerous events, as there is little of that here, but rather for people who just want to relax and unwind.

We stayed as a family from July 7 to July 17, 2012, in a four-bed studio at Villa Porto Gatos on the first floor. The property is located just a few meters from the beach, is new, comfortable, and has welcoming hosts. Hygiene is at a high level, both in the rooms and on the beach. The music coming from the café was also pleasant and suitable for all tastes, and it could be heard on the beach as well. As I mentioned, the beach is very close to the villa, so anything you bring in the morning can be left until the evening (thanks to the honest tourists and the view from the terrace). The beach is ideal for children: sand, shallow water, clean and warm water, a volleyball court, and everything else your imagination can conjure. Additionally, thanks to the spotlight, night swimming is also possible. All in all, it is PHENOMENAL!

Ten days ago, I returned with my beloved from Porto Gatosa. The accommodation is phenomenal, the location perfect, and the beach outstanding. We were situated on the first floor, in a unit with the largest terrace. Everything is depicted accurately in the photos. For the first seven days, we had the entire house to ourselves; I cannot describe the feeling, complete peace and silence. The mornings, evenings, and nights are fantastic (the only thing that disrupts the idyll are the mosquitoes). Regarding the awnings and wireless internet, the promise was partially fulfilled; there is internet, but no awning.

I spent my vacation with my family. The accommodation is excellent, and the host has organized everything beautifully in terms of cleanliness. The view from the terrace is stunning, especially at sunset. The beach is small, but for me, it is one of the most beautiful on Thassos. As for the bakery, supermarket, and promenade, they are about a 5-10 minute leisurely walk to the village center, but this is not a problem or a downside to the accommodation; in fact, it’s an advantage!

The accommodation is decent, but quite boring! It’s a street where there is nothing. The nearest market is 500 meters away. The room is clean and tidy. The owner, like all Greeks, is very kind and helpful. The beach located beneath the terrace is very small, yet in September it is crowded with bathers coming from all directions by car, making it impossible for us locals to enjoy a peaceful swim. I can’t imagine how it is in July and August... We used the beach on the other side of the settlement (not in the settlement!) which is much better than this "sandy" one. There are very few sandy beaches on Thassos. Most of them are rocky, both in the sea and on the shore. The water is NOT warm as many claim, and it cannot compare to the water in Halkidiki which is much, much warmer in September. There are beautiful landscapes on the island "to admire" from viewpoints along the road. Perfect for photography! I do not recommend approaching the slope and looking down the cliff towards the shore because, like us, the Greeks also litter... there are old tires, refrigerators, and other trash everywhere. Driving on the roads is very interesting and exciting because at every turn you are greeted with surprises in the form of Greek drivers, "white line riders" who know the road and are not afraid to overtake you even in the curve. Taverns are not expensive at all, and most owners are very kind and accommodating, unlike some individuals who try to be nice only to Western tourists, and do not hesitate to serve desserts after meals for them while we from Serbia get none, even though our bill is much higher than theirs! For example, the taverna in Limenarija: "???????I"... But this is probably because we are "brothers"! In the two weeks I spent on Thassos, I did not see any stray dogs, unlike the many cats that, while you sit in a restaurant, do not hesitate to jump into your lap! The trip and visit to the ethnos village Theologos was wonderful, where for a small price you can enjoy delicious roasted lamb. I recommend everyone to visit it. Finally, I must highlight the wonderful "host" - NIKANA, who deserves all praise for the effort she puts in, and on whom you can always rely in every aspect. With her on the island, we felt completely protected and safe in every way. This is how all agencies and the people working in them should be!

We stayed in Porto Gatos in July 2011. There were three of us (a married couple and a 15-year-old child), along with our dog. The accommodation was phenomenal; our room had a huge terrace with a view of the sea! We simply crossed the street, descended a flight of about fifty steps, and we were already on a sandy beach and in the sea! The beach is a paradise for small children. We didn’t spend much time on the beach itself. After a good splash, we quickly returned to our room. Unfortunately, we could only use the terrace early in the morning and in the evening due to the strong sun, and because it didn’t have a canopy or a larger sunshade. About 500 meters away is a shop in the village, and a little further along the coast is a bakery where we bought fresh bread, making breakfast our main meal! They changed the bedding every three days, as well as cleaned the place. The hosts were two brothers and a sister, kind young people who run a café beneath the accommodation. We had no complaints except for our request to fix the table on the terrace, as the marble slab was not secured. I believe that by the time we left, it had not been repaired, but they apologized as they were waiting for a busy handyman. I sincerely hope they did not regret accepting us with our dog; we were very careful, cleaned up after him, and did not take him to the beach. The house does not have wireless internet, nor does the entire village. In the evenings, there are many mosquitoes, and regardless of the mosquito nets, the device must be turned on. And you can only sit on the terrace if you’ve applied repellent! There is enough parking space, although a lot of construction is ongoing, so I’m not sure if that will remain the case. Not to forget, I really liked the kitchenette, which was equipped with new, unmatched plates, cups, and even a coffee pot! The little things that mean a lot in life!

In early September 2011, my husband, a friend, and I, along with two other couples, stayed in two separate apartments. The apartments were clean, neat, spacious, and very beautiful, situated just above a lovely beach with exceptionally clean and warm waters. It took about ten minutes of pleasant walking to reach the town center, where there was an excellent bakery and butcher, although the selection of other groceries, especially fruits and vegetables, was somewhat limited. The hardware store was a few kilometers away, as was Potos, so since we were all motorized, we did our shopping there. One complaint was that there were frequent issues with the light fixtures in the apartments, particularly in the kitchen and bathroom, which sometimes left us in the dark in those rooms because the owner was absent and often didn’t come during the day; I think he had some family problems. What irritated me even more, and what I was not accustomed to on Thassos, was the speaker on the beach, connected to their otherwise very nice café located on the ground floor of the house. The speaker on the beach always played the same monotonous and boring music, although, to be fair, it wasn’t overly loud. But I love the silence and the sound of the sea on Thassos!

From August 17 to 30, 2011, I spent time with my family and godparents. This is the vacation I have always envisioned. Peace and quiet, yet close to the hustle and bustle of entertainment.

We stayed in the studio of this villa for 15 days and we are extremely satisfied. The house owners are available for any comments, should there be any, and are ready to respond immediately in case of any malfunction or if you are missing something.
