The new part of the highway through Macedonia, from Demir Kapija to Smokvica, has been officially put into operation, after more than five years.

The section is a little less than 30 kilometers long and shortens the ride through Macedonia by about 25 minutes.

The road has 2 lanes and a stop. In the next 8 months, there will be no toll collection on the new section, because it takes so much time to build a toll ramp.

What the first passengers to Greece faced was a poorly marked inclusion on the new section.

On that occasion, the Auto-Moto Association of Macedonia issued the following instruction for drivers: “To use the new section in the direction Skopje - Gevgelija in front of Demir Kapija, turn right for Skopje, pass under the overpass and continue straight following the road to Gevgelija!”
