• Cassandra is the main city of the Kassandra peninsula and an important administrative center. This settlement thrives year-round, offering a range of services that are essential for both the local population and tourists.

In Cassandra, during the summer holidays, you can take care of practical matters, visit the health center if necessary, or take a break from the crowds in the town with cobblestone streets, stone houses, and relax on a beautiful square shaded by plane trees.

Hospital and Health Center for all of Kassandra

The most important information for all tourists in Kassandra is certainly the main health center located in Cassandra.
The health center provides medical services for all visitors and residents. If you need emergency care or a specialized medical examination, you can come on your own or be referred here by doctors from local clinics.

It is located on the main road and near the KTEL bus station (near the Masutis store, which can also be a landmark for you to find).

Market

Popular resorts in Kassandra have “piljars,” small vans that sell fruits and vegetables, and the only green market where everyone brings their products can be found in Cassandra once a week, on Tuesdays.
At the market, you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, olive oil, and other local products.
You can read about market days in all places in Halkidiki here or in the post here.

Stores for a Greek SIM card

In Cassandra, you will find stores from three major operators: Germanos (Cosmote), Nova (Wind), and Vodafone, so you can provide internet on your mobile phone and avoid expensive roaming charges.
Germanos and Nova (Wind) stores are located on the same street, while Vodafone is on the street next to it. Check the location of Germanos here.

What else can you visit in Cassandra?

While in Cassandra, you will see small shops where you can find local products and souvenirs. Some products are even more affordable than in other popular resorts, such as a shop with leather sandals that we recommend you to visit.

Some of the cultural landmarks you can visit include:

-Church of St. Athanasius - This is the main church in Cassandra and represents a significant religious place for the local population. The church is known for its simple yet beautifully decorated interior.

-Old Square - located in front of the large and beautiful building housing the municipality\, the old square is paved with traditional taverns\, cafes\, and shops around it. The square is not large\, and we recommend you to rest in the shade of a huge plane tree in the company of locals who gather there. Next to a café\, there is a small fountain and a beautifully painted wall near the fountain.

-Architecture and old houses - Walking through the city reveals several old houses that showcase the traditional architecture of this region.

City History

In addition to being a practical place for living and conducting daily business, Cassandra also has an interesting history. The city was founded in the 16th century and was known as Valta until the 20th century. Due to its strategic location on the peninsula, it was an important economic and cultural center, although it largely developed independently of tourism. Today, Cassandra represents a blend of rich tradition and modern services, making it an ideal destination for those who seek more than just the usual resort experience.

Cassandra is a quiet, small but significant place where you can take care of practical matters, enjoy the peace and quiet of the local square, and explore the authentic Greek atmosphere. Thanks to its proximity to beautiful beaches and resorts, Cassandra is ideal for those who want to experience Halkidiki in a different way.
