If you decide to go to Thassos by bus during the summer tourist season, it is best to pay for the transport at one of the Serbian travel agencies that offer arrangements on Thassos, regardless of whether you have also paid for accommodation at one of those agencies or decided to you hire only for the transportation service.

In that case, the price of the bus ticket to Thassos usually includes the price of the ferry ticket. The prices of return tickets for adults range from 60 to 90 euros, depending on which city in Serbia you are leaving for Thassos. A return ticket from Novi Sad costs around 90 euros, from Belgrade around 75 euros, and from Niš around 60 euros. Children under the age of 2 do not pay a ticket, while children under the age of 10, who use a separate seat on the bus, are usually granted a 20% discount on the price of a return bus ticket for adults. A one-way ticket costs about fifty euros.

If you plan to go to Thassos by bus, but outside the summer tourist season, i.e. without the possibility to pay for the transport at one of the Serbian tourist agencies, you will be able to buy a bus ticket to Thessaloniki in Belgrade or Nis, and then in Thessaloniki, in your own organization, to transfer to the bus to Kavala, from where you will again independently reach the port and board take the ferry to Thassos.

The carrier FT Patriklos transports passengers by bus on the route Novi Sad - Belgrade - Niš - Thessaloniki - Larisa - Athens throughout the year. Departures are organized on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 5:00 p.m. from Novi Sad and 7:30 p.m. from Belgrade (in front of the office of FT Patrikalos across the street from the Belgrade Bus Station (BAS)), i.e. at 10:30 p.m. from Niš. According to the planned schedule, you will arrive in Thessaloniki the next day in the early morning hours, more precisely around 06:30 Greek time (5:30 Serbian time). Return is organized on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. See the detailed timetable on the carrier’s website here: https://www.fptravelpatrikalos.rs/
The current price of a return ticket is €85 from Belgrade, or €75 from Niš, while the price of a one-way ticket is €50 from Belgrade, or €45 from Niš. There is also the possibility of downloading ship tickets for Greek ships in Belgrade.

The headquarters of the carrier FT Patrikalos is in Belgrade, at Karađorđeva Street 83. Their contact numbers are: 011 / 76-14-787 and mobile: 063 / 21-78-75, in Thessaloniki: Ugao Anageniseos and Sapfous 35 and the phone is: 02310 / 53-70-31
In addition to FT Patrikalos, regular bus lines to Thessaloniki are also provided by Siamos carriers Gea Tours and TErra Travel, which also organizes transport to Thessaloniki almost daily during the summer with their vans.

From the bus station in Thessaloniki there are two lines that run to Kavala. The first, so to speak mountain line, runs every full hour starting from 6 in the morning until 8 in the evening and takes 2 hours from Thessaloniki to Kavala. The second, predominantly coastal line (via Nea Peramos), has four departures from Thessaloniki at 9:00 am, 12:00 pm, 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm and takes an hour and a half from Thessaloniki to Kavala. The last stop of both bus lines is near the port of Kavala, from where you board the ferry to Thassos, more precisely to Skala Prinos. The return bus stop is at the same place.

The main bus station in Thessaloniki is called KTEL Makedonia Intercity Bus Station. It is located 5 km west of the city center, in Giannitson street number 244. It occupies a larger space, and is recognizable by the large, glass dome on top, similar to the domes on the halls of the Belgrade Fair. You can get more information on their official website: http://www.ktelmacedonia.gr/ , or you can contact them by email at ktel@makedonia.gr, or by phone at the main number +30 2310 544633 or at the number of the ticket counter +30 2310 595421.
