In Thessaloniki, there is an intriguing concept of a restaurant and store combined into one. It is called Ergon Agora and is highly popular. If you enjoy more unique places, this restaurant-shop offers a very tasty and diverse food selection, while also providing the opportunity to purchase authentic and high-quality local products.

What makes this restaurant special?

Ergon Agora is located in the center of Thessaloniki and combines traditional Greek products with a modern food and hospitality concept. Here, you can try traditional Greek dishes prepared in an innovative way. One part of the space offers a wide selection of high-quality ingredients from various parts of Greece (mostly from small producers), including a butcher, fish market, deli products, cheeses, honey, authentic wines, beers from small Greek breweries, olive oil, spices, and fruits that you can buy and take away. The other part of the same space is the restaurant. In the fish market, you can choose the fish you want them to prepare for you.

The Ergon brand in Greece and worldwide

The restaurant is part of the broader concept of the Ergon brand, which has become extremely successful and popular not only in Greece but also internationally. Cities with franchises include Athens, London, Brussels, and New York.

What do we recommend trying at Ergon Agora?

We have visited this restaurant several times and have mostly enjoyed the food. It truly belongs to the better restaurants, and besides, it has a unique and unusual concept. If you spend a longer time in Thessaloniki, it can be one of your choices, although in our opinion, it does not belong to the top 10 restaurants in the city.

We recommend trying:

  • vine leaves rolls (meatless) from the grill,
  • cheese pie from Skopelos (with honey),
  • flatbread with garlic.

The restaurant is very well known for its smoked chicken, which they say is one of the best meals you can have in the whole city.

They have homemade pasta, and their pastries and bread are excellent because they have a wood-fired oven. The pasta is homemade and better than in most restaurants.

Their famous pastries include pinirli with cheese (reminiscent of Turkish pide or even more of khachapuri), as well as bugatsa with pasturma.

The Greek salad is very tasty, but, for example, we did not enjoy the tabbouleh salad.

If you like to try something different and enjoy meat, try the Brazilian meat called picanha.

Where is Ergon Agora located?

Ergon Agora is located in the center of Thessaloniki, at 34 Pindou Street, and there is also Ergon Agora East located outside the city center. The East location is significantly larger, in a beautiful location near the sea, but to me, it is very similar, as is the service.
