Excellent accommodation

Exceptional The grandmother is so kind that I felt at home. The apartment is beautifully arranged, the beds are excellent, the internet works perfectly, everything is clean, tastefully decorated, modern, just the best. The air conditioning cools nicely, with hot and cold water available as much as you want, in a word, excellent. It is close to the promenade, 300 meters from parking. Now, I don’t know how it is in other rooms, but what I could see seems to be fine. My apartment was number 33 on the second floor. It is evident that a lot of effort has been put into it; it has probably been renovated. When we left for home, we received souvenirs from the grandmother, and during the holidays, we also got cookies. This is how I remember the hospitality of the Greeks. A big recommendation from me.

Meri is an exceptional host, warm and always ready to assist. The accommodation (at least our studio, a triple room on the first floor) is even more beautiful than in the pictures. The room is clean and tidy, and our towels and linens were changed on the fourth day of our stay. There was hot water available at all times. It was very comfortable inside, so we didn't even need to turn on the air conditioning until the last evening. The internet works perfectly. It is true that Meri does not speak English, but her husband and son do, as well as the woman who helps her maintain the house, so communication with them is possible. The price-quality ratio is excellent; it is hard to find better accommodation for that money. We are extremely satisfied and would choose Meri and this accommodation again. This is not a place for those seeking special comfort, nor for tall individuals, as the bed is a bit shorter, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone over 185 cm. For those who need a place to sleep, take a shower, or quickly prepare something, this accommodation is a great choice. Regarding the kitchenware, it might be good to have a few more items (shallow plates, larger pot), we didn't need them, but I believe everything we needed would have been provided. It is important to mention everything on the first day, as changes can be made then, rather than complaining and finding faults after the vacation. A big greeting to Mrs. Meri, who sent us off with souvenir gifts and was an excellent host during our stay.

When weighing the pros and cons, this is quite a good choice. Mrs. Mary, a charming grandmother, does not know a word of English, yet we managed to have a delightful conversation without understanding each other. The location is good, the rooms vary in quality; we received a better one, but the biggest drawback is the shortage of hot water and water in general, especially in the latter part of the day. Hygiene was not an issue for me, but it was for my wife. The parking is small, but it is not a problem. All in all, a good balance of price and quality.

In 2017, during the peak season, we secured a four-person accommodation for the two of us on the top floor. The landlady was exceptionally kind, but she spoke neither Serbian nor English, which greatly complicated communication. We encountered difficulties in locating the accommodation as the location did not match what was shown on the map. The apartment is situated at the main intersection in Potos, turning towards the village of Teologos, on the left side of the street, about 400 meters from the intersection. It is close and easily accessible, which is a plus. The parking is small relative to the number of apartments, so we mostly parked on the street without issues. The internet is fast, the air conditioning is free, but the water pressure is weak, and hot water often runs out quickly. Our room had only one small wardrobe, so this would definitely be a problem for full occupancy.

The villa is situated in an excellent location on the way to Teologos, approximately 300 meters from the main intersection, which is conveniently close to the promenade yet far enough from the constant hustle and bustle. A significant advantage is the parking, as anyone who has been to Thassos knows that parking space can often be a challenge. This is my fourth visit to Thassos, and I can only describe the island in one word: "Fantastic". The accommodation itself is, in my opinion, average but satisfactory, although I believe that the price and quality of the lodging are not proportional. A major drawback is the hygiene of the bathroom; I think the owners need to pay more attention to this matter. Additionally, the inventory (glasses, plates, cutlery) is in total deficit. On the other hand, the villa is in an excellent position, and I must commend the kindness of the landlady, who, despite her lack of English, is always there to assist with anything needed, even though communication can be challenging. Another advantage is the constant availability of air conditioning, which, for instance, is not the case when booking through other agencies that charge you 5 € per day.

The rating would have been higher if the hygiene had not been poor. Upon arrival at the apartment, not everything was cleaned, especially the kitchen, and it remained that way. The bedding was clean but somewhat stained, and the bathroom could have been cleaned better. I am not sure if this is the usual state of affairs in this apartment or just an oversight, but during the nine nights I stayed, the bedding was never changed, nor was the apartment cleaned. However, the owner is very nice, all praise for her, as well as for the location of the apartment and the overall value for money. All in all, it would have been excellent if the hygiene were better.

The location is excellent, just three minutes from the beach, with markets and a promenade nearby. A positive aspect is the availability of parking, which is often overcrowded and sometimes insufficient for all guests (6-7 parking spaces for 8-9 cars, yet everyone manages to fit in). Considering that many villas lack parking altogether and guests have to park on the (very busy) street, this is a significant advantage. A major downside is the (un)cleanliness of the bathroom, which casts a shadow over the overall accommodation; the toilet and sink are clean, but the floor, tiles, and shower could be tidier. The room itself is neat and clean, with bed linens and towels changed every fifth day, and the air conditioning is included in the price. There is a shortage of kitchen utensils (for instance, there is only one knife and no pot for soup), but I believe the hostess would provide these if requested, and the kitchen elements could also be a bit cleaner. The landlady is pleasant, but she only speaks Greek, which complicates communication. SUMMARY: The accommodation is modest; for the price at which it is rented, it is not bad at all, and one cannot expect luxurious apartments for a low price. I would simply appreciate it if attention could be drawn to the cleanliness of the bathroom and kitchen, and if a bit more kitchenware could be added (at least for our apartment), as this would significantly improve the ratings for this accommodation, which, unfortunately, I must currently give.

The only complaint is that the studio was dirty, especially the bathroom which was not cleaned. Everything else was fine, and the grandmother was very kind.
