In this guide, you’ll find a complete overview of the best shopping experiences in Thessaloniki, including modern malls, luxury boutiques, and the city’s main shopping streets.

Thessaloniki boasts a long-standing trading tradition – dating back to the Roman Empire when the famous “Via Egnatia” ran through the city – which still makes Egnatia Street one of its main commercial arteries today. Shoppers from Romania, Bulgaria, and other Balkan countries often visit Thessaloniki because it is:

  • conveniently located and well-connected,
  • offering a wide variety of fashion brands, jewelry, and outlet deals,
  • Jumbo, Mega Outlet, Cosmos, Ikea, One Salonika, and many others shopping malls and
  • home to the city’s most popular „high-street” - shopping streets, perfect for a one-day or weekend shopping trip.

The city center is compact, so even without a car, you can explore most stores on foot, or take advantage of public transport and affordable taxis.
Public transport in Thessaloniki

Smaller Greek resort towns like Halkidiki, Thassos, and Lefkada are not ideal for clothing shopping. Shops in these areas usually have a limited selection, often at higher prices than Thessaloniki, without branded stores or a diverse range of options.

We will start from the best shopping streets in Thessaloniki, from luxury boutiques to high-street fashion, this guide will help you plan an unforgettable shopping experience.

Shopping in the center of Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki’s city center offers modern shopping and retail experiences with a wide selection of boutiques, global brand stores, and luxury fashion houses, all accessible on foot – ideal for those who want to enjoy shopping without a car.
Join us as we explore the main shopping streets in the heart of Thessaloniki.

Tsimiski Street - „high-street” of Thessaloniki

The main shopping street in Thessaloniki is Tsimiski. This wide, shady boulevard is easy to find as it runs through the middle of Aristotelous Square and offers numerous shops of internationally renowned brands along its entire length, such as Zara, Mango, H&M, Marks & Spencer, Benetton, Artisti Italiani and Massimo Dutti, as well as smaller boutiques of Greek brands and sports equipment stores.
It is also home to Attica, the largest and most famous Greek department store chain with a “shop-in-shop” concept – many boutiques under one roof, with centralized sales and service. At Attica you can find:

  • Women’s and men’s clothing – from high-street brands (Zara, Massimo Dutti, Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Calvin Klein, Levi’s…) to designer lines (Armani Exchange, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Max Mara, Maje, Sandro…).
  • Footwear and bags – premium and luxury brands: Michael Kors, Furla, Tod’s, Camper, Geox, Timberland, Dr. Martens, Reebok Lifestyle lines, Hogan, Veja, Longchamp, Marc Jacobs.
  • Exclusive cosmetics houses: Dior, Chanel, Lancôme, Estée Lauder, Clinique, MAC, Bobbi Brown, YSL Beauty…
  • Luxury and fashion watch brands (Tissot, Seiko, Fossil, Emporio Armani) and jewelry from domestic and foreign designers (Swarovski, Tous, Folli Follie and Greek brands).
  • Home accessories, candles, room fragrances, luxury notebooks, handbags, sunglasses, scarves, gloves and belts.

The store is air-conditioned, elegantly decorated, with elevators and multiple levels. Within the department store there are coffee bars, beauty corners and personal shopping service.
In short: Attica is a place where you can find everything – from everyday fashion and sportswear to luxury brands, jewelry and cosmetics, in one modern space in the very center of Thessaloniki.
The opening hours of the shops on Tsimiski Street are throughout the day.

Egnatia Odos – affordable shopping and great selection in Thessaloniki

Above Tsimiski Street, at the top of Aristotelous Square where the bus turnaround is located, lies Egnatia odos, one of Thessaloniki’s main shopping streets. This central area is perfect for shoppers looking for affordable clothing, shoes, and jewelry in Thessaloniki.

Egnatia is a long, busy, and commercial street with a variety of stores stretching throughout the city center. You will find small fashion boutiques, accessory shops, outlet-style stores, and other lower-cost retailers, all offering good quality products.

For jewelry, the central section of Egnatia features reputable local jewelers such as Dimitriadis Jewellery (Egnatia 53B) and Million Diamonds – Moisiadis (Egnatia 76). These stores offer quality jewelry with local tradition, though not at the level of premium luxury brands found closer to the seafront.

If you are on a budget or want more affordable options, Egnatia is recommended, as it hosts many lower-cost stores.

The street’s central location makes it easy to combine shopping and sightseeing in one walk.

Store hours on Egnatia are split into two shifts, so plan your shopping in the morning or late afternoon (after 6 p.m.). Shops are closed on Sundays.

Mitropoleos Street - Designer Boutiques and Unique Fashion in Thessaloniki

This street is perfect for shoppers seeking special, unique fashion pieces that cannot be found in mainstream stores.
Mitropoleos Street runs parallel to Tsimiski, just below it, and is easy to find as it crosses Aristotelous Square.
Unlike the busy Tsimiski Street, dominated by large international brands, Mitropoleos is home to smaller boutiques and shops featuring local designers. Here you can find high-quality clothing, including elegant dresses, unique designer bags, shoes, and fashion accessories not available in mass-market stores.
Shops like Sekoia showcase Greek brands with handmade bags and shoes, while the Philly boutique offers carefully curated clothing and accessories, including brands such as Fever London, Emily & Fin, and Yumi. Additionally, Mitropoleos hosts boutiques like Fransa and Penny Sabbado, renowned for their unique fashion pieces.

Prices are slightly higher than on Tsimiski Street, reflecting the quality and design.

Mitropoleos exudes a charming Mediterranean vibe – shop windows are filled with pastel colors and natural materials, and between stores you’ll find small cafés and patisseries popular with locals.

Proxenou Koromila Street – Thessaloniki’s Most Exclusive Shopping Area

If you can afford pieces from the world’s most luxurious brands and designers, head straight to Proxenou Koromila Street. This is the most exclusive shopping street in Thessaloniki, located just one block from the sea and running parallel to the famous Nikis Avenue.

Here you’ll find boutiques of prestigious fashion houses such as Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, and other high-end designer brands, along with many small exclusive boutiques offering unique pieces and creations by local designers.
The street is also known for its elegant cafés and bars, perfect for a coffee break during shopping or an evening stroll.

The stores are stylish, the shop windows immaculate, and the overall atmosphere radiates urban chic. If you’re looking for something truly special, top quality, or a hard-to-find brand, Proxenou Koromila is the right place to go. Prices are, of course, high - in line with the exclusivity of this area.

You’ll also find a fantastic luxury gift and souvenir shop here called “Hello From”, offering beautiful items for yourself or your loved ones.

Jewelry and gold shops: Just like on Tsimiski Street, you can find excellent jewelry in Proxenou Koromila as well. Some of the most popular jewelry stores include Haritidis, Pandora Store, Papadopoulos Gold, while Bord de l’eau is known for its unusual and artistic handmade jewelry.

Vintage and Thrift Fashion in Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki has a vibrant vintage fashion scene — from affordable thrift stores to carefully curated vintage boutiques offering retro clothing and accessories.
Some of the best-known vintage shops in Thessaloniki are Elephant Gang (on Hippodromiou Street) and Vaudeville Room (in the Roman Forum district), where you can find vintage clothing, jewelry, and accessories in excellent condition.

The best-known vintage shops in Thessaloniki city center:

  • V for Vintage – Armenopoulou 29, 54635 Thessaloniki. Unisex clothing, ideal for retro style and designer pieces.
  • Elephant Gang – Ippodromiou 18, Thessaloniki. Unique pieces from past decades.
  • Vaudeville Room (in the Roman Forum district), where you can find vintage clothing, jewelry, and accessories in excellent condition.
  • 90s Closet – Ptolemaion 32, Thessaloniki 54630.
  • Jenny Blond – Syngrou 5 (upper part of Ladadika), Thessaloniki.
  • Vintage Closet – Ionos Dragoumi 39, 4th floor, Thessaloniki 54625. Rare and carefully selected vintage pieces.

The Navarinou district (Navarinou Street and nearby lanes) is also known for its retro shops, vintage clothing, and accessories — a great area to explore for fashion lovers.

Thrift and Second-Hand Stores in Thessaloniki

While vintage stores focus on quality and curated retro fashion, thrift shops in Thessaloniki offer clothing and accessories at more affordable prices.
They’re a great option for those on a smaller budget or for anyone searching for a hidden branded gem among second-hand clothes.

Differences between thrift and vintage stores in Thessaloniki:

  • Thrift shops: larger and more diverse selection, fast turnover of items, pieces from various decades, brand and age are not the main focus.
  • Vintage shops: focus on quality, style, and unique pieces with a story, often at a higher price.

In thrift shops, you might find branded items, but the main idea is good value at a lower price.
In vintage stores, the goal is to discover a unique, stylish piece that stands out.

Popular Thrift Stores in Thessaloniki

  • Thrift Store – Piniou 9, Thessaloniki 54630. Very affordable prices (€5–6 per item); online shopping also available at thriftstore.gr.
  • Brand Stories Thessaloniki – Mitropolitou Iosif 11, Thessaloniki 54622. Clothing and home décor shop based on a buy–sell–exchange concept.

Why Thrift Shopping Is a Great Choice (and Why We Support It)

  • Buying second-hand items helps protect the planet.
  • It promotes a sustainable and responsible approach to consumption.
  • You can find unique pieces not available in mass-market stores.
  • There’s always a chance to discover an interesting brand or style.
  • Locations are central and easy to reach, no need to plan a trip outside the city.

Note: Some vintage and thrift stores in Thessaloniki are open only 2–3 days a week, so it’s best to check opening hours in advance.

Large shopping centers in Thessaloniki

Outside the city center, on the road to Halkidiki, you’ll find Thessaloniki’s largest shopping malls - a real paradise for shopping lovers. These malls cover a wide area, so the best way to visit them is by car.

A visit to Cosmos is ideal if you are returning from a holiday in Halkidiki because you are practically passing by it, but if you are only in the center of Thessaloniki for a day or a few hours, then we recommend that you do your shopping in the city center and on the streets we mentioned above.

In the following section, discover what each mall offers and how to plan your visit to Thessaloniki’s shopping centers for the best experience.

Mediterranean Cosmos Mall in Thessaloniki

Mediterranean Cosmos is the largest mall in Thessaloniki and one of the largest malls in the Balkans, with nearly 200 individual stores selling clothing, fashion accessories, jewelry, cosmetics, underwear, sportswear, books, electronics, and souvenirs.

It is well connected: there is a bus service to the center, so it is not necessary to have a car. A taxi from the center to Cosmos costs between 25-30€, although it depends on the crowd.

Some of the most famous stores in the Cosmos shopping center in Thessaloniki are:

  • Attica Department Store: located inside the center, and offers major designer brands for men, women and children, as well as accessories and cosmetics.
  • Cosmos Sport: a specialized sports store inside the center — a large selection of sports brands of clothing, shoes and accessories.
  • Geox Store Thessaloniki: a shoe store covering men’s, women’s and children’s models - sneakers, elegant shoes, boots.
  • Bo1125 Boutique: a multi-brand boutique, local designers, offering clothing, shoes and accessories.
  • There is also the most famous sports shoe and clothing store Foot Locker, which has brands such as Nike, Adidas, Reebok, New Era, Timberland and others.

Many people from Thessaloniki come to this shopping center for entertainment and food, as it has the best fast food and street food restaurants.
If you are a burger lover, here you can try the best burger in town at the PAX restaurant, and if you like sweets and ice cream there is Fregio, as well as the excellent Paradosiako bakery.
Of course, you can also buy gyros, souvlaki, and cooked meals here.

Overall, Mediterranean Cosmos is a great option for a more organized full-day shopping and entertainment experience outside of the central area of Thessaloniki — with plenty of choices, comfortable conditions, and additional amenities. If you plan on doing more than one store and want to take coffee or lunch breaks, this is a very practical solution for comfortable shopping.
