Kazaviti and Saint Panteleimon monastery
Kazaviti is one of the oldest villages on Thassos. You can not see it from the shore, and therefore is the only place that the pirates have not robbed since they did not even know that exists. In the past, it was divided into two parts (small and large): Megalo and Mikro Kazaviti. It is known for a very good school system. There can still be seen the remains of the old school, the church and the authentic stone houses with wooden porches.
Most residents of Kazaviti moved to nearby Prinos, but in recent years there is a trend of returning and resurgence of this mountain village.
In the village, there are several tavernas located in the central square, that are known for its excellent food, especially lamb, which is prepared traditionally only here. Also, the village has built a few nice hotels and villas.
The nature that surrounds Kazaviti is beautiful.
If you decide to visit this village, you need to visit the monastery of St. Panteleimon that is 4-5km away alongside the new road. The monastery church was built 1843 from stone and wood. According to legend, the workers who built the temple construction was started 3km from where it is today, but several times during the night all that they have built disappeared, along with their tools. They realized that a miracle happened. They saw footprints on the ground, followed them and came to the cave where they found their tools. Recognized that some higher power wants the monastery right there, next to the cave, there was raised. Otherwise, it is believed that in the mentioned cave St. Panteleimon lived, that is why the temple got his name. From the ancient times in cave until today flows sacred spring. For centuries, people have come to this place to pray for the healing from St. Panteleimon. In 1987 this complex has gained the status of the monastery. Every year on the 27th of July there is a festival organized in honor of Saint Panteleimon.

Selo se nalazi u severnom delu. Iz mesta Prinos se skrece ka unutrasnjosti ostrva. Ako odete, obavezno svratite u restoran Menir. pozdrav
