Description
Lia Studios is a very affordable and popular accommodation located close to the beach, city center, supermarket and bakery. All studios have sea view. Guests also have a barbecue and the owners are wonderful people who are always there for you.
Accommodation is located in Skala Maries, at 250m away from the center, the city beach and Sunset beach. In the center there are taverns, shop, bakery, pharmacy and a butcher. Skala Maries is a small, very quiet place, located about 35km from Limenas and 7km from Limenaria. Besides from the two beaches that we have already mentioned, beach Atspas is also close. It is sandy, with volleyball courts, beach umbrellas, deck chairs, crystal clear water and parking space. Near Skala Maries, towards Skala Prinos, there are plenty of wild coves, and in the opposite direction, towards Limenaria is the beautiful and popular beach Tripiti.
The accommodation was built in 1996 but the owner invests in it every year. They offer 12 studios (eight quadruple and four triple) located on three floors. All of the units have a sea view. On the first floor are four four-bed studios (30m2) with one double and two single beds, while on the second and third floor are the other eight units (25m2) from which two on each floor has three single beds and two have three single and one sofa bed for one adult. If necessary, into a few studios can be added an extra fourth bed.
Studios are very clean and decent. On the first story the floors and wall partitions are made of stone so the setting seems odd, but certainly beautiful while such materials provide additional freshness to space, which is desirable in the summer months, despite the presence of air conditioner. They are equipped with classic wooden furniture. Bathrooms are medium sized. Kitchens are equipped with all necessary utensils. They have a mini stove with two plates, hood and fridge. In all units, there is a small TV hanging on the wall and internet access.
Cleaning is done every day and the change of towels and linen every three days.
Backyards practically nonexistent, except on the third floor, where at the back of the house is a wider area (corridor) on open, with greenery, flowers, a porch and a stone table with benches. From there the view is most beautiful and spreads at the surrounding hills, Sunset Beach and the sea.
In front of the house across the street, there is an expansion for parking up to nine cars. The owner says that the expand use only guests of his villa because the road next to the villa is not crowded.
Arriving from Prinos, when you notice Skala Maries turn to the right off the main road and pass by the Sunset beach, then go half-left uphill to the church and continue to drive on the road to your left for another 100m until you see Lia Studios on the right side of the street.
The studios are clean and nicely decorated. They would suit all those who want accommodation in a quiet location with a beautiful view.

Guest reviews
Upon our arrival at the studio, we were greeted by a housekeeper who is Albanian and, unfortunately, does not speak either Greek or English, making communication somewhat challenging. The studio is located on the first floor, and from the terrace, there is a view of the harbor. In the morning, you can even hear the seagulls. The accommodation is exceptionally spacious and comfortable, featuring a large terrace with cozy chairs. Within the apartment, you will find a mosquito repellent device, a hairdryer, an iron, and an ironing board, which are all integral parts of the accommodation. The bed linens and towels are changed every three days, which is truly commendable. Although it has a two-star hotel status, you will not find anyone available for any urgent needs during the afternoon hours. There is a phone number for Mrs. Lie posted for emergencies, but it is written in a format that tourists may not understand. In summary, do not expect luxury, but you can certainly count on decent accommodation.
Kindness, cleanliness, and location are at an exceptional level. Truly commendable.
The city beach is beautifully maintained and just a 3-minute walk away. A small, well-secured shop is very close. All restaurants are within a 5-minute walking distance.
Cons
The apartment is spacious and comfortable, with exceptionally cozy beds. The hygiene is of a high standard. We would definitely choose this accommodation again.
Comfortable, clean.
Cons
Beautiful, new, clean apartments with a friendly host; the furniture is new, and although the bathroom is small, everything is functional.
We encountered an issue with ants... In the bathroom, the room, behind the bed, and even on the bed 😳..
Lia studio is an outstanding accommodation, situated in an excellent location. The apartments are comfortable, clean, and tidy. I have nothing but praise for both the studio and Nikana, of course.
Cleanliness, quiet street, friendliness
Cons
None
Easy access to the central part of Skala Maries, as well as connections to other locations on Thassos. There is always one free parking space in front of the accommodation. The studio is clean and tidy, the beds are very comfortable, most of the furniture is new, and there is a large terrace with a view of the sea and the mountains. Highly recommended.
Great location, beautiful view of the sea and the mountains.
Cons
Weak Wi-Fi signal, which may be important for those who need internet.
Overall, the accommodation is decent; the beaches are nearby, as is the city center and shops. The hosts are friendly.
Great location
Cons
Poor internet connection
Everything was fine, I highly recommend it. The owner is very kind and was at our disposal.
The accommodation is situated in an excellent location; it is remarkably quiet and peaceful at night, and the sleeping conditions are pleasant even without air conditioning. Everything is very clean and tidy. Many compliments to Liu and her cousin, who always impeccably prepared the room. All praise for the accommodation and the staff. Skala Maries is a place we gladly return to.
Cleanliness, location, accessibility
Cons
/
An excellent price-quality ratio. The owners, Lia and Katarina, are very kind, pleasant, and accommodating; you can reach out to them for anything you need. The maintenance of the rooms and regular change of linens are of high standard.
Location, tranquility, beautiful terraces, cleanliness of the room
Cons
Old kitchen elements
An excellent location that allows for exploring the entire island. The maintenance of the premises is regular, bed linens are frequently changed, and the hosts are courteous and accommodating.
The most beautiful sunsets on the whole of Thassos are found right in Skala Marion.
Cons
Distance from the beach.
The four-person studio on the top floor is spacious and comfortable, featuring cozy beds and new furniture. From dishes to clothespins, everything is provided. Cleaning is done daily, while bed linens and towels are replaced strictly every three days. The view from the terrace is worth a million dollars. The internet is better than ever throughout Greece. The beach is a five-minute walk away, sandy and expansive. The place is small and exudes the spirit of Greece, with three taverns, a café, a bakery, and three convenience stores. Gyros is served as a portion, and there is no gyros pita. A warm recommendation for anyone seeking a true vacation.
Location, cleanliness, internet, comfort, hospitality, and unobtrusiveness of the hosts.
Cons
There is no gyros pita in the town.
We vacationed in a studio for four people, which is the largest studio we have ever stayed in. The spacious terrace receives only afternoon sun. The beds are comfortable, and the WiFi is excellent. There are three beaches nearby, with the closest one just a two-minute walk away. Skala Maries is a small and safe place, ideal for those seeking tranquility. Lia Studios offers excellent accommodation for individuals who wish to work online while on holiday. The WiFi is superb, the beach is close and safe, allowing you to freely let your partner take the children to the beach in the morning and join them later. The hospitality and cleanliness of the accommodation are outstanding. The studios are cleaned daily, and towels and bed linens are changed every three days. When the cleaner noticed we were using unused sheets to prop up the pillows, she brought us additional pillows, which pleasantly surprised us. The beds are comfortable, and sleeping without air conditioning is possible. We vacationed at the beginning of July, and we only turned on the air conditioning a few times over ten days. All praises for the accommodation and the location.
Proximity to the beach, only afternoon sun, no need for air conditioning in July, comfortable beds, spacious studio, daily cleaning, peace and quiet, mosquito nets, friendly hosts, close to taverns with excellent food, affordable price.
Cons
Nothing significant. If I must mention something, it would be the relatively small kitchen.
A beautiful terrace, good internet, clean and tidy, a small kitchen, and the space is limited for four beds.
Since I cannot edit my previous review where it seemed we were dissatisfied with the service, I would like to add a few words of praise. Although we did not often see Lia and Katerina because we were constantly on the move and spent little time in our room, we were welcomed every third day with clean linens and towels, which is rare in most accommodations and deserves every commendation. I even felt uncomfortable having them change the towels since we hardly used them except as a cushion for sitting on the chairs on the terrace. The girls were kind whenever we encountered them, but we did not establish any closer contact with them nor did we meet the other members, which I would have liked, but they were probably just unobtrusive. If we had needed anything, they would likely have been accommodating, but we did not bother them for anything; we are not demanding. I would also like to commend Nikana for doing an excellent job. Skala Marion is a charming little and peaceful place, very pleasant, as are its locals; everyone was very kind, especially in our little bakery where we enjoyed wonderful pastries for breakfast. Once, we returned late from the beach and remembered we had no bread, so I dashed to the bakery, but it was closed. Mr. Ioannis saw me on the steps while sitting with his friends and unlocked the bakery for me, which delighted me. We particularly enjoyed the town beach beneath the Motor Ship tavern; everyone was friendly, greeted us properly, and the music was lovely, creating a serene atmosphere. And all those elderly folks sitting in the mornings and evenings in front of the first tavern waved to us. All in all, our vacation was delightful, thanks to the wonderful people from the town and all over Thassos. Of all the places I have been, I heard the most Greek here, and that is the feeling of being in Greece.
The studio is situated in a great location, on a quiet street, close to the city center. On the other side, the road leads to the main highway, making it an excellent starting point for driving. I have a complaint, or rather a suggestion for the owners whom we hardly saw: it would be nice if they welcomed guests with some form of hospitality. Instead, we had to call them and wait upon our arrival, as there was no one present, even though we had indicated an approximate arrival time. Additionally, upon our departure, we only encountered them in the hallway, and it was merely a casual greeting, as if we would see each other again tomorrow, ordinary and indifferent, which does not reflect Greek hospitality at all. I believe that in this business, you must offer guests a smile and a few more words if you wish for them to return. The impression is not solely left by the room (unless you are in a hotel), but also by the pleasant atmosphere and a good, attentive host, which would make me more inclined to return to the same place. I also left them a small gift in the room, along with a note, but I did not receive even a message saying "thank you." They had my number since I ordered honey and oil from them, and we had been corresponding. Regarding hygiene, they changed the bedding and towels every 3 days, emptied the toilet bin, and replenished the toilet paper, as stated in the description. The guests were Romanians, Greeks, and Serbs, quite calm, family-oriented (except for some of our group who played loud music late into the night).
Proximity to the center, quiet street, faucet with a hose on the terrace, separate terraces, peaceful. Room No. 4 with a stone floor, so we didn't need air conditioning in July.
Cons
Old kitchen elements, dirty respirator, ants, only 2 hooks in the bathroom and no shelves for a four-person studio, we had nowhere to arrange our hygiene items, and the waste bin was the smallest possible for four people.
An exceptional experience, the location is fantastic, the owner is honest, responsible, and very accommodating. Towels and bedding are changed every three days.
The accommodation is highly recommended. The hostesses are exceptionally pleasant and hospitable. The studios are clean and equipped with everything you need. We hope to see each other again. A big thank you for everything. Wishing you much success in your future endeavors.
Lia Studios are located in a quiet part of town, yet close to the beach and the center.
Cons
We are extremely satisfied with the accommodation. The hostesses were exceptionally hospitable and pleasant. We will gladly recommend this place to our friends and hope to see you again. Thank you very much, and we wish you much success in your future endeavors.
The location of the property is excellent, close to the beach and the center.
Cons
Accommodation highly recommended. The studio is spacious, clean, excellently located, with a large terrace overlooking the sea, and parking spaces were always available - we stayed there in July 2021. The owners, Lia and Katerina, are very kind and always present, ready to assist with anything needed, which is a rarity. They changed our linens every three days.
Villa Lia is excellently situated, and interestingly, the street where the villa is located is wide and not busy. For those who appreciate peace and quiet, this is an excellent choice.
Cons
In terms of price and quality, there are no drawbacks.
Our first impression upon arrival is that this is our first accommodation with a fully developed IT infrastructure. Please forgive me, I am an IT person. The studio for four is remarkably spacious, providing ample room for everyone. The terrace is excellent, offering a wonderful view. The location of the accommodation is fantastic; it is close to the main road, making it easy to access other beaches on Thassos. Skala Marion is a small place with a few restaurants and shops, but it is very close to Potos, which offers all possible seaside activities. The owner of the accommodation is amazing and speaks English well. She uses electronic communication tools, making it easy to arrange anything. Despite Covid, they have made every effort to maintain hygiene at a professional level. Overall, we have only recommendations. Skala Marion is a lovely little fishing village. There are three beaches in the area, the most beautiful and popular being Acpas.
Price, location, owners
Cons
The only complaint is the slightly dysfunctional grill in the yard.
Dear Sir/Madam, We stayed at Lia Studios from June 21, 2020, as the first guests of the season. The owners implemented all safety measures and were available at all times, very kind and with a sense of humor. We were accommodated in a studio on the first floor, which was extremely comfortable. The pillows, mattresses, and blankets were brand new. The studio was clean, and towels and bed linen were changed every three days. The only complaint was the smell of dampness from the kitchen elements.
Comfort, hygiene, communication with the owners, location, value for money.
Cons
The smell of dampness from the kitchen elements.
As I mentioned in the title, we are returning to Lia studio for the third consecutive year. The third floor has been renovated, which delighted us greatly. Lia kept this as a surprise until we arrived. The stay in Skala is very pleasant. It has everything one needs. Those expecting a fair on the street should head to Potos (it’s not far). We have visited every year in the first half of September.
Affordable price, comfortable studios all with a sea view
Cons
The studio for four people on the ground floor is comfortable, and there has always been hot water. The Wi-Fi is decent, the owners are unobtrusive yet always available for any assistance needed. Bed linens and towels are changed every three days, and the studio is thoroughly cleaned. If you wish to cook, a pot is missing, but there is plenty of everything else. The location is excellent, with Platanes beach just five minutes away—perfect, with no crowds, fine sand ideal for children, and a gentle shallows of 20 meters with no large waves, occasionally a small wave may appear. Many Greeks come with children, and cruise ships always anchor for passenger swimming. There is one beach bar for renting sunbeds and plenty of space for your umbrellas. Nearby are larger towns Limenarija and Potos for strolling and gyros. A 15-minute walk with three small children leads to Atspas beach, a beautiful cove with sand and a 50-meter shallow, while the city beach should be avoided due to large stones at the entrance and in the water. An excellent location for a peaceful holiday, swimming, and enjoying the beach. Be sure to visit the Panagia Monastery on the way to the village of Maries, a lovely place. Studio Lia is recommended for those not seeking luxury and noise. In Skala Maries, most tourists are Romanian, with a few Serbs and some Bulgarians. I almost forgot, there are fewer mosquitoes than in Serbia.
value for money, peace and quiet, location
Cons
as someone mentioned, a few ants.
The owners, Lia and Katarina, are exceptionally kind. We stayed on the second floor. The internet was occasionally slower, with brief interruptions, but overall it was satisfactory. The studio is very comfortable and clean. The terrace is spacious, offering an extraordinary view of the sea, olive groves, and the main road. The only drawback is that the kitchen is not suitable for larger meal preparations, but we didn't need that. It serves as an excellent base for exploring the most beautiful beaches of the island. We mostly dined out, so the mini kitchen was more than sufficient for us. The bathroom was clean, and the linens and towels were also in good condition. There is parking available in front of the house, which is very important. And of course, all praises for Nikana, who was flawless and made exceptional efforts to find accommodation that perfectly suited our needs.
Parking in front of the house, the internet is quite good. Kind owners. Clean and functional.
Cons
I would still mention a few ants in the kitchen, likely due to the surrounding greenery, so if they could be dealt with somehow, that would be great. However, I emphasize that this is a minor issue compared to the numerous advantages this accommodation offers.
Lovely accommodation
Location, tranquility, beautiful terraces, cleanliness of the room
Cons
Unpleasant odor from kitchen elements and in the bathroom
Last year, we vacationed in these apartments. The place was exceptionally clean, and the owners were kind. The beach visible from the apartment is unkempt, and the water is dirty; however, on the other side, there is a slightly smaller beach with crystal clear water. In this area, there are no shops, and the restaurants are quite expensive. At the restaurant recommended by the owners, a portion of Lavrake fish, accompanied by a single serving of fries, just one cherry tomato, two beers, and a pitcher of water costs 120 euros. The accommodation and the owners are friendly, but you can find gyros and a restaurant in a nearby location.
My wife, our son (15 months old), and I stayed at Lia Studios from August 27 to September 4, 2018. There is a parking area in front of the studio that is almost always shaded. In Skala Maries, there are three beaches, two of which are just a 3-4 minute walk from the apartments, and within the same distance, there are also 3-4 tavernas. Additionally, there are two shops nearby. Lia and Katerina welcomed us in front of the accommodation and showed us to the apartment. The kitchen is very well equipped, hot water is available 24/7, the internet in the room was weaker, while on the terrace it was satisfactory (the weak signal was due to our location in the farthest room from the router). The room was clean when we arrived, and cleaning was done every other day with a change of towels, while the bed linens were changed twice during the eight nights we spent at the accommodation. The terrace is spacious and shielded from neighboring apartments by a wall. During our stay, we contacted Lia and Katerina twice, and both times they were more than kind and helpful. I highly recommend this place.
Hot water available 24/7, frequent cleaning and change of linens/towels, friendly owners
Cons
Weaker internet in the far rooms
An excellent price-quality ratio. The owners, Lia and Katarina, are extremely kind, pleasant, and accommodating; you can reach out to them for anything you need. The studio has everything necessary: a kitchenette, a bathroom, a spacious sleeping area, and a lovely terrace where you can enjoy the view of the sea and the sunset. The furniture may not be the newest, but it is functional, and you won’t need more since you’ll be at the beach all day. It has a TV (only local provider channels), WiFi that is quite good at least regarding our studio, an air conditioning unit in working order, a stove, a refrigerator, and some dishes. The rooms have mosquito nets, and you won't have issues with mosquitoes if you close them regularly. On the terrace, you might get bitten occasionally, but that is normal for any stay in areas surrounded by nature and greenery. The rooms are cleaned very often, and the linens and towels are changed every three days. Lia Studios also has its own restaurant in Skala Maries, "Coralli fish tavern," where you will receive a 10% discount on the wonderful food they prepare. There is no designated parking, but there is always enough space for about ten cars around the villa. If you are not picky and overly demanding, you will be very satisfied. We enjoyed our stay quite a bit. In the lobby, you can find advertisements and flyers for various activities offered by nearby places. Skala Maries is not for young people seeking entertainment, glamour, and fancy amenities; it is the perfect place for relaxation and a break from urban crowds.
Clean, quiet, parking available, spacious rooms, beautiful sunset view, mosquito nets, air conditioning works, WiFi works, very friendly staff.
Cons
Insignificant details.
We stayed at Lia accommodation in the first half of August, on the ground floor. Everything is just as depicted in the pictures. These studios on the elevated ground floor feature stone floors and a stone partition, making them quite pleasant. As one of the guests noted, we also had no need to use the air conditioning. There is a beautiful large terrace that also has a fountain. Room cleaning from sand was done daily, and our linens and towels were changed every three days. The kitchen contains all the utensils you might need. There is plenty of cutlery, plates, a pot, a frying pan, a saucepan, a large strainer, glasses, mugs, and a coffee pot... If you find that you are missing something, you can ask Lia and Katarina, who are truly wonderful and accommodating. The refrigerator is clean, and everything functions well. On the top level, there is an excellent grill. We grilled fish there. There is always hot water available for showering. All the accommodation units were fully booked, but it was quite peaceful and quiet. The house is located right on the road, but it is not a main road; rather, it is a part that is used by the locals from that area of the village. At the end of the road, before connecting to the main road, there is one of the shops. In the same street, there is a church, and behind it, in one of the alleys that lead steeply to the sea, is a famous bakery. There was always parking available. We arrived at the accommodation last in the evening, and we always found parking without any issues. If we decide to vacation again in this part of Thassos, it will surely be at Lia accommodation. Highly recommended!
The overall impression is excellent... The hostess is pleasant and friendly, the cleanliness is at a very high level (daily cleaning of the studio, changing of bed linens and towels every 3 days), a comfortable studio with a spacious terrace and excellent table and chairs for seating. Although there is no designated parking, there is always space in front for about ten cars. The location of the studio is outstanding, quiet and without much hustle, yet only a 2-minute walk to the center and the market... The only minor complaints are the small bathroom without a shower curtain and the very limited cutlery... All in all, it is definitely worth every euro :-)
Good location for exploring the island Excellent price-quality ratio Hygiene at a very high level
Cons
Small bathroom Limited cutlery
The studios are comfortable, beautifully decorated, and equipped with exceptionally cozy beds, while the view from the terrace is breathtaking. Lia is a young, remarkably kind, and hardworking girl, whose family owns a restaurant in the town center, and guests from the studios enjoy a discount. She provided us with invaluable advice on choosing a beach and exploring the island. The entire property is well-maintained, cleaned daily, and linens and towels are changed every two to three days. In front of the villa, there is parking with ample space (we never had a problem finding a spot), which is a significant advantage, as the streets in Skala Maries are narrow and have very problematic parking. Furthermore, the villa is located just a five-minute walk from the town center and the beach, which, while not the most beautiful on Thassos, is quite decent and uncrowded. For those seeking a peaceful vacation, Skala Maries and Lia studios come highly recommended.
Parking; villa's location; cleanliness; mosquito nets on the terrace doors; friendly, communicative, and unobtrusive owner.
Cons
Considering the price of a four-bed studio in mid-season, it has no drawbacks.
The room was spacious and immaculate, and the kitchen was furnished with everything necessary. The view of the sea from our balcony was exquisite, and the village was serene and tranquil. We will certainly return to Lia Studios.
Cleaning was performed daily.
Cons
The Wi-Fi signal is weak in the room, but it is stronger on the balcony.
The Lia studio fully meets our vacation needs on the island. It is hard to say that we didn't enjoy ourselves. This is our first time on the island, and we will surely return to the Lia studio.
A spacious terrace with a view of the sea, close proximity to a large sandy beach.
Cons
There was only one clothespin in the studio (if that can be considered a drawback).
We vacationed at Lia Studios from July 11th to July 21st, 2017. Everything mentioned in the previous descriptions is absolutely true. The accommodation is cleaned daily, the bedding is changed every 2-3 days, the location is excellent, just a five-minute walk to the beach, and there is always parking available... Lia and Katarina, the owners, are always at your disposal for various requests, and the guests are truly their top priority, all in a very relaxed and unobtrusive manner. The place is a genuine Greek village, nestled among three beautiful beaches (Atspas is my favorite), and it has everything you need: a pharmacy, two well-stocked markets, a butcher, a phenomenal bakery, and lovely, authentic Greek tavernas... an ideal starting point for all excursions and sightseeing.
Lia is a very pleasant host. The accommodation is cleaned daily, and the bedding is changed every three days, sometimes even every two days. The spacious terrace offers shade in the afternoon. We enjoyed ourselves and had a delightful holiday.
Lia Studios deserve a perfect score of ten! The rooms are airy and immaculate (they are cleaned daily, and linens and towels are changed every third day). Lia is a helpful, kind, and cultured person who will always accommodate you, and the view is fantastic. The village is small, cozy, and divine; the taverns are even better, and the bagel is the tastiest in the world. The beaches of Thassos are countless and cater to every taste, while the sea is crystal clear even in the heart of the village. A sunset is guaranteed!
We were a group of 20 individuals who booked 6 rooms. Everything was as described. The Wi-Fi functioned excellently, and each room was equipped with air conditioning and a spacious balcony offering a magnificent view. Linens were changed daily. The owner was very kind and spoke English fluently. Highly recommended.
Dear Sir/Madam, I stayed at this property this past July with my family. The accommodation was quite satisfactory and decent. However, that is not the only reason I am writing these lines. I would like to extend my heartfelt praises to the agency Nikana and express my gratitude for their professionalism and attentiveness. Given that we have grown accustomed to various scams and "tricks" from many tourist agencies in Serbia, I must admit that I was somewhat skeptical at first in this case as well, but the facts proved me wrong immediately upon arriving at Lia studios. Literally, every photograph available on the site nikana.gr, as well as the description of Skala Maries and the accommodation itself, accurately reflects the actual state of affairs. There are no embellishments, exaggerations, or fabrications; as the saying goes, there are no lies, no deceit. What you see in the photographs and read in the description, you will witness in person. The only discrepancy is that the studios and terraces are cleaned not every three days, but every single day. Once again, my utmost respect for the agency Nikana; I wish them much success and many satisfied guests in the future. Aleksandar Lazić, Belgrade - Rušanj
Villa Lia is a highly recommended accommodation. From July 17 to July 27, 2016, the four of us stayed in this villa and were absolutely delighted. Studio 1 is spacious, with a view of the sea, located just 4-5 minutes on foot from a beautiful beach. The floors are made of stone, making it comfortable in the room; we didn’t even need to turn on the air conditioning. They cleaned our room every day, and they changed our towels and linens every three days. The owners are very kind and pleasant people; whatever we needed, they were always there to help. The wifi worked excellently, and we had it available at all times. The terrace is spacious, and we had all the necessary utensils. Skala Maries is a peaceful little place perfect for a true vacation, and there are several beautiful beaches just a few kilometers away: Psili Ammos, Notos, Grand... The town itself also has three beaches. We particularly enjoyed the beach right at the entrance to the town when coming from Prinos; there is also a café called Sunset, the beach is sandy, not crowded, and the water was always clean and warm. All in all, we wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation.
Sea view, clean room, friendly owners, proximity to the beach, changing linens and towels every three days, daily room cleaning.
Cons
Honestly, we didn’t find any drawbacks.
We have just returned from our vacation. Overall, Lia Studios is an ideal place as a base for exploring the beaches around the island. The accommodation is modest, but I must emphasize that cleaning was done daily, and towels were changed almost every day. The friendly hostess is another plus. What I would particularly praise is the peace and quiet, both during the day and at night. The proximity to Platania Beach (200 m), which is excellent, is another advantage. What bothered me a bit was the fact that the kitchen utensils were quite scarce (insufficient number of cutlery, plates, etc.), there are no mosquito nets on the balcony doors, and the balcony doors cannot be locked. Of course, the price of the accommodation probably reflects its amenities, but all in all, we had a peaceful, wonderful, and relaxing vacation. By the way, the wi-fi signal in some apartments that are far from the router is weaker, making surfing or working on devices significantly more difficult. All in all, I am satisfied with what was provided for the price paid.
Peace, quiet, proximity to an excellent 'city beach' with no crowds, an excellent 'base' for exploring the beaches around the island, and a stunning view of the sea from the terrace - especially during sunsets!
Cons
The minor issues I mentioned above, as well as parking along the road - since the property does not have a traditional parking space, it may happen that some 'expert' parks in a way that takes up space for two cars.
We stayed in mid-August 2015, with two adults and two children. The studio was quite decent for the price we paid. The villa is located at the end of the village, which is somewhat advantageous as it is not crowded between houses, allowing for plenty of air, and at night a pleasant coolness comes from the sea and the surrounding mountains. On the street where the villa is located, especially on weekend nights, motorcyclists often speed by, creating quite a noise. The terrace is sufficiently spacious for four people and is bathed in sunlight during the early evening. Two beaches are about 300 meters away, while the third, Atspas (my son's favorite), is about a kilometer distant. It can be reached on foot in about ten minutes. The place Skala Maries is magnificent, peaceful, with a few taverns, a bakery, a pharmacy, and three markets. Our favorite for next year.
Friendly hosts. One can sleep comfortably at night without an air conditioner. Proximity to all necessary facilities and beaches.
Cons
Noise coming from the road in front of the villa. Limited kitchenware and a modest kitchen that could also be cleaner.
During my stay at Studios Lia, I was accompanied by my husband and two little girls. The visit took place in mid-July 2015. The studios are beautiful and equipped with everything a family needs for a perfect vacation. Lia is phenomenal and exceptionally kind. Communication was a bit challenging as she speaks English, but we managed to understand each other wonderfully. The studios are cleaned every day while we are at the beach, and the bed linens are changed every other day, which is truly commendable. Typically, I bring a pile of towels on vacation, and it often feels insufficient, but thanks to the wonderful Lia, I hardly used my towels at all, as we had towels that were changed, as I mentioned, every other day. There is air conditioning, but we found no need to turn it on, as the studios were very pleasant to stay in, even though it was warm outside. Regarding the location, as previous guests have mentioned, the place is small, and aside from a few restaurants, there are no nightlife options, so we frequently went to Limenarija and Potos. There are two shops that provide everything necessary for daily needs. The beach is fantastic, not crowded, and the water is clean at all times. Sun loungers are, of course, available as usual with coffee or another drink.
Close to the beach, with kindness and hygiene at a high level, which is certainly very important.
Cons
As a downside, I would mention the insufficient parking space when all the studios are full, as well as the slightly increased noise from passing cars since Studios Lia is located on the main road that runs through Skala Maries.
From September 1st to September 15th, 2013, I stayed with my wife in a studio on the top floor of the Lia building. A beautiful studio, a spacious terrace, and a fantastic view! It was peaceful, tidy, and very clean; I thank Sofia for her kindness and effort, with clean linens and towels every three days! By the way, Skala Marion is the most beautiful village on the island. Thanks to the bakery for the fragrant bread and pastries every day, especially on Sundays!
Very close to the town center, where the finest taverns with always fresh fish can be found - Gavrosi are the best! A lovely, clean, and completely tranquil beach right in the center, silence, and crystal-clear warm sea sheltered from the wind, along with a store, butcher, and bakery, and wonderful friendly locals who assist you.
Cons
The only downside is that in all this beauty, 15 days pass by in the blink of an eye!
During the period from August 26th to September 5th, I stayed as a guest in an apartment with my daughter and grandson. Our overall impression is that we chose the right destination for a vacation, as we live in an urban environment and sought something akin to a Robinson Crusoe-style holiday. It is an ideal place for families with small children in every sense: a beach, peace and quiet in the evening hours, and comfortable, clean accommodation. Regarding the accommodation, we have no complaints, as we do not seek luxury; rather, hygiene is of utmost importance (we thank Mrs. Sofia for that), except that we found the kitchenware lacking. I hope that other guests will also comment on this topic, as it is unusual based on our experience. Apartment accommodation implies that we should not have to purchase our own plates, pots...
Peace and quiet, the kindness of Mrs. Sofia (there is no other staff), hygiene.
Cons
Lack of kitchenware!!!!!!!!!!!
We stayed in the studio from August 13 to 24, 2013, four of us: two adults and two teenagers. The host was very kind, and everything was tidy and clean; towels and bed linens were changed every third day. There is a small bakery in the area with excellent bread. I must also mention the tavern "Armeno" which serves great food. The beaches, especially Astpas Beach and Beba Beach, are perfect for families with small children, featuring sandy bottoms and long shallow areas. There are a few shops in the area for minor purchases, while for everything else, Limenarija and Potos are available.
An ideal base for those who love to explore and tour the island.
Cons
The street where the studio is located is quite busy.
We stayed from August 3rd to August 17th, 2012, and everything was as we read on the website. A spacious studio, large terraces in the shade, and an exceptionally beautiful beach. The owner was kind and runs a restaurant by the shore. The only "drawback" of this place, Skala Maries, is that it is small, with only two shops, a bakery, and a few restaurants, making it unsuitable for those seeking entertainment and nightlife, or for shopping excursions. For those who desire a peaceful, genuine vacation, it is perfect.
peaceful location, beautiful beach, no crowds, clean sea
Cons
not for those seeking entertainment and nightlife
In the last days of August 2012, we stayed at the Lia studio (for two people), on the Marion scale, through the Nikan agency. The location is excellent if you want to explore the surroundings by car, as it is 200-300 meters from the parking lot in front of 'Lie' to the Tasos highway. In the town itself, which is small, everything is close and you can reach it in a few minutes of leisurely walking. From the spacious terrace, there is a very nice view of the sea, the beach, and the olive groves. Most of the day is in the shade (we had air conditioning in the room, but there was really no need to use it, even though the temperature outside reached an average of 40 degrees, or even higher). Everything is functional and very tidy. Mr. Jorgos has a nice place in the center, by the coast, where you can stop by and enjoy various dishes at very reasonable prices, and it's the only place where you can buy cigarettes. The town has shops, a bakery, a butcher, taverns, and three beaches. There was also music in the local bars (some guest performances, Greek music with a bouzouki. Quite nice if you're interested in that genre). The locals are very friendly, in the best tradition of Greek hospitality and honesty. A bus frequently passes through the town, allowing you to easily reach any part of the island and back (note - not at night). I was personally very pleasantly surprised by the frequent changing of bed linens and towels. Above average frequency. A special commendation :)
Perfect as a base for a peaceful and relaxing stay with all the comforts of small, quiet places. If you are driving or renting a car, the entire island of Tasos is at your fingertips, while enjoying your peace without lacking in beaches or supplies.
Cons
This is not a place for energetic youth seeking glamour and entertainment every night, if that is a downside... (perhaps one should pay attention to mosquitoes, as they tend to bite if everything is open and the lights are on. That’s why there are blinds and mosquito nets...)
We stayed in a studio in Lia from July 14, 2012, to July 27, 2012, with a family of two adults and three children aged 14, 12, and 5. It was our first trip to Thasos and our first without a travel agency from Serbia. We were accommodated on the first floor. The studios are fresh, spacious, with stone floors and a stone partition between the beds, always fresh and pleasant. The beds are comfortable and very spacious, providing ample room even though there were five of us. During our 13-day stay, the linen was changed four times and towels were provided, without cleaning. The terraces are exceptionally large with a beautiful view of Beba beach and the sunsets. All studios overlook the sea. They are even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. The accommodation deserves every praise for its reasonable price.
Freshness, climate, spaciousness, beautiful view from the terrace, tidy, close to the beach, friendly hosts
Cons
The kitchen is poorly equipped with utensils, but they were accommodating when we asked for what we needed.
The two of us, a couple in our thirties, vacationed in Skala Maries at the end of August 2011. We expected our accommodation to have a spacious terrace suitable for relaxation, a pleasant view, a quiet location, and cleanliness. Since we traveled by car, it wasn't important for us to be in one of the larger towns (Limenas, Limenarija, or Potos). In Skala Maries, at Lia studio, we received more than we anticipated. Lia is situated in an excellent location. The terraces face northwest, ensuring they are always shaded, with a direct view of the olive grove, while in the distance, the main road is visible. The side view offers a stunning perspective of the sea and beautiful sunsets. The terrace is exceptionally spacious, furnished with a seating set (a table and four chairs). The room is not large, but we didn't need it to be, as we only sleep there and spend the rest of our time on the terrace. The kitchen area and bathroom are also small but clean and perfectly adequate for vacation needs. They changed our towels and bed linens three times over ten days (every four days). Lia is located about 100-200 meters from one of the town's beaches, which is the largest of the three in Skala Maries. This was the only beach we swam at, as we traveled by car and explored the island and various beaches daily. Lia studios are part of a family business where, it seems, everyone is involved. The family also runs a tavern in the town center (about 100 meters from the studio), where the food is exceptionally tasty and offered at very reasonable prices, with always fresh fish and local dishes. The hosts are incredibly kind and friendly, and in the tavern, they offered us free uzo and dessert every time we visited :) In the town center, there are several taverns, a few well-stocked shops, and one pharmacy. We did not find the bakery we had read about, as we didn't search for it ;) From Skala Maries, when heading inland, it is easy to reach the mountain lake and waterfall, which in August are not particularly impressive (to say the least, they are almost dried up), but the nature is fantastic and definitely worth the trip. It's worth noting that Skala Maries is just a few kilometers from Limenarija and Potos, so anyone eager for a lively atmosphere and who has a car can quickly reach these places.
A tranquil location, exceptionally clean accommodation with a spacious terrace and beautiful view.
Cons
Those seeking a lively atmosphere and more "serious" amenities may not find much to do in Skala Maries.
