What to expect this year in the Christmas Village in Thessaloniki?

Traditionally, from December 7th to January 6th every year, the space in the northern part of Aristotle Square, above Egnatia Street, transforms into a magical and sparkling Christmas Village with many wooden kiosks, holiday flavors and scents, lanterns, and music. Each cottage hides its own charms, and when you walk through this area, you will easily feel the holiday atmosphere that embraces all ages.

The Christmas Village is located in the park, at the top of Aristotle Square. Even as you approach, you will be enchanted by the lights and lanterns placed on the trees, and the whole area looks so beautiful that it truly appears as an open-air fairytale.

Both young and old can enjoy a multitude of events held daily, creating a festive atmosphere. Expect activities such as face painting, where children can transform into whatever they wish, as well as many others that are kept as surprises.

Santa’s House

Of course, the presence of Santa Claus is mandatory. In “Santa’s House,” your little ones can take photos with him and share their Christmas and New Year wishes. You will easily recognize his cottage, and you can also view it in the photos above.

Theater Performances

This year, there will be 12 theater performances, with many elves and reindeer, and of course, the inevitable Snowman. Although there is a language barrier, children will enjoy the costumes, movements, and interactive content, and each performance offers an opportunity for smiles and fun. We must not forget that theater has emerged precisely in these areas and has been created by the Greeks - so each performance carries a part of a rich tradition. Surrender to the masters of their craft and enjoy the magic of the stage.

  • Santa’s train with reindeer
  • Carousel
  • Main stage with daily shows and musical events

The area is surrounded by a multitude of games and activities for children. Merry-go-round, cars, spinning cups, ice rink, and Santa’s train with reindeer, and there is also the “House of Horror,” while the main stage hosts daily shows for children and musical events for older ages. Luna Park is adapted for children of all ages, and besides trains and cars, there are many other entertaining activities. New Year’s Tree and Holiday Stroll

From the top of Aristotle Square, from the Christmas Village, you can enjoy the view of the 18-meter-high Christmas tree, beautifully decorated and placed next to the sea on Aristotle Square and the Thermaic Gulf shimmering in the background. You can reach it with just a 5-minute walk, and along the way, you will enjoy the holiday decorations - lanterns, ornaments, windows, and cafes perfectly complement the walk. Don’t forget to take magical photos :) We look forward to them and will gladly share them with our followers!

We must emphasize that we do not support the cutting of Christmas trees for the holidays and advocate for the use of potted trees that can be replanted after the holidays!
