Fiskardo is one of 365 villages in Cephalonia. It is located in the very north of the island, in the region known as Erissos, which was put under the protection of the Greek Government because of the unique richness of nature. Dense forests surround the innumerable small coves with pebbly beaches and crystal clear sea.

Fiskardo is one of the few places that has not been devastated in a major earthquake that destroyed almost the entire island in the 1950s. For this reason, it retained authentic architecture, and therefore an atmosphere, reminiscent of some of the past times of the Venetian rule.

For Greek tourism, Kefalonia is a popular destination, especially during the summer months.
Fiskardo tourists can enjoy a variety of facilities. There is a doctor, a pharmacy, several local supermarkets, a bakery, a car and motorcycle rental agency on the highway. The village also houses the memorial house of Greek poet Nikos Kavadias who spent part of his life here, as well as the Fiskardo Museum, which was created through volunteer work and is an old-school building.

The picturesque harbor, surrounded by pastel-colored Venetian-style homes, is full of small sailboats and large yachts anchored a few meters from the promenade with restaurants and cafes. The streets are narrow and restaurants and cafes are densely distributed along the central promenade.

Fiskardo has a small pebbly beach surrounded by rocks, located not far from the harbor. The water here is crystal clear, and there are several trees on the beach that make a natural shade. Many accommodations are located by the sea and often have direct access to small private beaches. Almost all houses have beautifully decorated facades with wooden blinds and flower gardens.

Fiscardo is visited by tourists from all over the world, and many celebrities such as Steven Spielberg, Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Tom Hanks, and many others are his regular guests in search of rest and relaxation. Also, some scenes from a Hollywood movie Captain Corelli’s Mandolin were also filmed in this village.
