Many consider the only downside of Sithonia to be the great crowds on the beaches. The solution to this is to vacation off-season, if you have the choice.
Another solution is to visit less popular beaches. While they may not be as beautiful as the most popular ones, some are not sandy, but you can still enjoy peace, relax, and rest on them even during the season.
We are also not fans of crowded beaches, so here are the beaches we visit on Sithonia during the season.
Beaches without crowds that we recommend:
- Kriaritsi Beach – located near Sykia. Part of the beach is organized, while there is also plenty of space for your own equipment.
- Tristinika – located near Toroni. A large, uncrowded sandy beach. It’s mostly not organized.
- Sikia Beach – a large city beach in Sykia. It’s sandy, clean, with gradual depth, and without umbrellas and sunbeds.
- Castri – near Nikiti. It has pebbles in the water, clear sea, is narrower, but without crowds.
- Coves between Neos Marmaras and Las Bandidas – numerous small coves and beaches without crowds. The sea is not turquoise, but there is more natural shade.
- Elia Beach – about 2km long, between Nikiti and Neos Marmaras. Mostly narrow, with natural shade and small coves ideal for peace and isolation.
- Goa – an organized beach near Sarti. With light chill-out music, great for those who don’t like crowds and children’s noise.
- Coves between Trani Ammouda and Pirgadikia – hiding many beautiful spots for those seeking complete peace and solitude.
If you don’t like crowds and you’re vacationing in July and August in Sithonia, it’s best to get in the car and start exploring. There are truly many coves and beaches with very few tourists - you just need a little time and willingness to find them.
Popular beaches with fewer crowds:
- Trani Ammouda – due to its vastness
- Fava – because it’s not organized
- City beaches in Toroni and Sarti – long and wide
- Lagomandra – a large beach with plenty of space
- Armenistis – because there is an entrance fee
