Beaches nerby Neos Marmaras

If you are staying in Neos Marmaras or its surroundings, on the west side of Sithonia, you will be able to easily visit a large number of beaches for which Sithonia is famous.

City Beach in Neos Marmaras:

  • Above all, Neos Marmaras has an excellent city beach.
  • It is located on the southern side of the town, it is very long and sandy.
  • It is largely shaded by nature.
  • In the part closer to the luxury complex Porto Carras it is arranged, while the part towards the town is available to visitors with their own equipment.
  • The sea has a beautiful color, the depth is gradual, and the sand is fine.

Towards Toroni:

  • The southern part of the beach belongs to the aforementioned Porto Carras hotel complex and within it, there are 3 beaches with a blue flag.
  • Since a large part of the coast between Marmaras and Toroni belongs to this complex, the hotel also owns another twenty smaller and wild coves that can be reached on foot or by bicycle, but only through the complex.
  • There are also some alternative paths to these wild coves, but we do not recommend them if you are on vacation in Sithonia for the first time.
  • If you like modernly arranged beaches, stop by this complex.

When driving on the main road from Marmaras towards Toroni, right after Porto Carras, you come to a right turn. If you enjoy beautiful landscapes and like to explore, be sure to take this right turn to descend to the coast. You will encounter a very winding and lightly trafficked asphalt road through a pine forest. You will have the opportunity to see a large number of small, wild coves from a height, the wonderful color of the sea, the combination of blue and green, luxurious yachts anchored in these beautiful coves. You will be surprised by the number of interesting private houses in that remote and less known area and by how beautiful Sithonia actually is and how much room it still has to develop.

Since the mentioned road is quite long and winding, if you want to drive along this coast and shorten the journey a bit, then do not turn right immediately after Porto Carras, but drive further until you reach a new turn with signs for:

  • Areti
  • Stavros Camping
  • Saint George hotels
  • Las Bandidas bar.

This way, you will quickly descend to the coast. We recommend this shorter route for returning to the main road as well. In both cases, you descend to the old road leading along the coast to Toroni.

Once you descend to the coast, turn left and drive along the mostly undeveloped and narrow coast, with larger gravel or sand of a slightly darker color, perfect for those who want solitude.

Agia Kiriaki Beach:

  • The first larger beach you will encounter is the beach Agia Kiriaki in front of Stavros camp.
  • This beach is very beautiful, sheltered, with natural shade, but it is advisable to arrive early due to possible crowds.
  • It has a tavern and a café with a beautiful view and a large number of tied boats.
  • The beach has fine gravel and gradual depth.

Areti Camp, Saint George Hotel, and Likithos Village Hotel:

  • Drive further and pass by Areti camp which also has a beautiful beach, and then past the turnoff for Saint George hotel, and after that, you can visit the small beach in front of Likithos Village Hotel.
  • This hotel is built in the style of buildings in Santorini, with a pool on an elevation and a phenomenal sea view. The beach in front of the hotel is small, but usually not crowded.
  • It is not a private beach, but to reach it, you need to pass through the hotel, which we liked very much because the hotel is really nicely arranged.
  • The beach is excellent for diving and enjoying peace.
  • Spending time on this beach offers a different experience of Sithonia.
  • Likithos Village Hotel is temporarily closed, so access to the beach through the hotel complex is currently not possible.

Pounta Island:

  • If you continue further after Likithos hotel, you will soon come across a dirt road or sandy spit that connects Pounta island with Sithonia.
  • You can walk to the island and take a stroll, even though it is undeveloped and has several unspoiled coves.
  • Larger sand and darker gravel are not attractive in this part, so we recommend visiting this area only if you love more secluded places and beaches and if you want to explore the most hidden places of Sithonia.

Likithos Beach:

  • After visiting Likithos and possibly Pounta, return to the road and continue on the asphalt road you turned off to reach Likithos.
  • Soon you will come across the beach in front of Poseidon hotel, which has natural shade, is partially arranged, and there is sand in the water only in front of the arranged part.
  • In the undeveloped part, there are rocks, so you need to be careful because there are sea urchins.
  • This beach is also perfect for seclusion, especially its right part where there is natural shade.
  • Only a cape separates this beach from another beach and the famous beach bar Las Bandidas.
  • This beach also has a sandy entrance only in front of the arranged part, it is not crowded, and it is excellent for diving.
  • At the bar, you can enjoy Latin music and delicious food. There is also natural shade.

The road further leads to Toroni and is mostly dirt, so we recommend returning to the main road and continuing towards Toroni on the main road. If you want to continue driving and enjoy nature and the untouched part of Sithonia, proceed slowly all the way to Toroni.

Whether you go on the main road or this dirt road, visit the beaches:

Which follow in that order all the way to Toroni and are the most beautiful on the stretch from Las Bandidas to Toroni.

Azapiko Beach:

  • There is also the beach Azapiko which we did not like, and besides it, there are many other wild beaches and coves, so if you are adventurous, in this area, you can find fantastic places to enjoy.

City Beach in Toroni:

  • In Toroni, you can also enjoy the city beach which is one of the most beautiful in Sithonia.

Kalamitsi, Kriaritsi, and Klimataria:

  • If you don’t mind driving a bit longer, in the south of Sithonia, there is one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Halkidiki, Kalamitsi beach and it is 35km away from Neos Marmaras (via Toroni), while also stunning beaches in the south are Kriaritsi and Klimataria are about 45km away.

Towards Nikiti:

  • From Marmaras to Nikiti, you will encounter a completely different coast, more beautiful, more organized, but also much more crowded, so you can choose what you prefer :)

Paradisos Beach:

  • Right behind the hill in Neos, you come across the beach Paradisos.
  • A sandy and beautiful beach as the nearest to the town with magnificent sunsets.

Tripotamos Beach and Castello Camp:

  • After a few minutes’ drive further towards Nikiti, you will come across the lesser-known beach Tripotamos and Castello camp.
  • The beach in front of the camp is arranged, and you can reach it by paying an entrance fee or through the undeveloped part for free.
  • In the arranged part, there is a store, a tavern, and sun loungers and umbrellas.
  • The undeveloped part is much larger, and there are several large private houses right by the beach.
  • This part of the beach is wide, sandy, uncrowded, and the water depth is gradual.
  • The sunsets here are also very beautiful.
  • Right next to Tripotamos beach, there is another unnamed beach, slightly smaller, but with similar characteristics, and it separates Tripotamos beach from Lagomandra. These two beaches are an excellent choice if you want to avoid the usual crowd found at Lagomandra.

Lagomandra Beach:

  • The famous Lagomandra is right there, a total of 8km from Neos Marmaras.
  • It consists of two parts.
  • It is known for its natural shade.
  • It is advisable to visit it early to secure a good spot.
  • The first part is not arranged and has fewer crowds, with plenty of natural shade.
  • The second part belongs to the Lagomandra hotel, so in that part, you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas.
  • There is also plenty of shade in this part.

Elia Beach:

  • The coast that starts from Lagomandra all the way to Spathies is called Elia Beach.
  • It is a long, interrupted beach, partly with natural shade.
  • This beach is unusual, narrow, pebbly - rocky and is mainly used by guests of nearby hotels, but it is nice to drive along this coast as it is wooded and nicely arranged.
  • On this stretch, there are several luxury hotels, apartment accommodations, several taverns…
  • Whenever we have the opportunity, instead of taking the main road on the way to Nikiti, we pass through Elia to admire this area and the nicely arranged apartments, hotels, and private houses.

Spathies Beach:

  • After finishing Elia beach, which is 2km long, driving the same way (without returning to the main road), you come across a small Spathies beach.
  • It is a small and very beautiful cove dominated by a tree with a large canopy under whose shade all visitors of this tiny beach usually gather.
  • If you don’t mind the crowd, this beach can be excellent.
  • If you walk left from the small Spathies beach through private property, you will come to a large Spathies beach.
  • There are no crowds there because there are only private houses in the background, the beach is not arranged, there is no long shoal, but the sea has a beautiful color and is somewhat more windy.
  • From Spathies beach, you can also reach the famous Kalogria beach in 2-3 minutes of an easy walk.

Kalogria Beach:

  • Kalogria is a long, sandy beach, with a shoal and natural shade.
  • It is very popular, one of the most beautiful beaches in Sithonia, so it is often crowded, and finding a parking spot can be a problem. On this beach, there are both arranged and free parts, so everyone can find what suits them best.
  • The most beautiful part of the beach is the left part facing the sea, closer to the hotel because there are no rocks in the water, the shoal is longer (for those who like it), and there is more natural shade.
  • On the right end of the beach is the Isla beach bar with lovely music, and from Isle, through the hill with an easy walk, you can descend to Koviou beach, another gem of Sithonia.

Koviou Beach:

  • It is a smaller beach than Kalogria, but equally beautiful, with a light blue sea color and gradual depth.
  • It is not as crowded.
  • Along the main road, there is a small parking lot, and you can also reach it through the Makednos hotel, as well as by turning to the Isla bar where you can also leave your car.

Agios Ioannis Beach:

  • After Koviou beach, exactly 15km from Neos Marmaras, you come to Agios Ioannis beach.
  • This beach has no shoal, it is long, uncrowded, with turquoise water and a large parking area.
  • A large part of the beach is not arranged, making it a paradise for those who don’t want crowds and have their equipment.

Castri Beach:

  • Adjacent to Agios Ioannis is Castri beach which is not particularly outstanding compared to average beaches in Sithonia, but it is usually uncrowded, has beautiful sunsets, and can be suitable for those seeking more peace during the peak season.

And we have reached Nikiti, which is about 20 kilometers from Neos Marmaras, as well as Toroni. We have listed all the beaches that are a maximum of 20km away from Neos Marmaras. Visiting these mentioned beaches will suit everyone who does not want to move too far from the town.

For those who are a bit more active during their vacation, we must mention that if they want to visit only the most beautiful beaches in Sithonia regardless of the distance from Marmaras, we will also add suggestions for beaches to visit on the eastern coast of Sithonia.
