Lygia is a small fishing port on the east coast of Lefkada. It is located only 5km away from Lefkas (south), and it is also in a good position from the capital city of Lefkada, which offers plenty of amenities and attractions for tourists.

When you start from Lefkas to Nidri, after the place Kariotes, you are coming to Lygia which is well connected with other parts of the island, because from there there are bus lines to the south and to the north of the island. The town is small and perfect for a peaceful holiday. It consists of a main street (highway), along which are shops and restaurants and also of a part with a small marina where are numerous anchored yachts. Next to marina is a promenade with several restaurants and cafes.

The beach in the city is narrow and with large gravel on the shore and in the water. The most beautiful part of the beach is located at the exit of Lygia towards Nidri, where the beach is larger and has a plenty of natural shade, but it is along the highway. This beach is part of the city and it’s very close to all accommodation facilities. The beach has a view on the fortress of Agios Georgios. Lygia is small place for a peaceful holiday, but it can also be an excellent base for visiting Lefkada. The advantage is the proximity of the capital city, where you could find everything you want and also a several nice beaches.

Pefkoulia is a well known sandy beach in Lefkada and it is only 13km away from Lygia. One of the most beautiful beaches of Lefkada, Milos, is located 18km away. Adorable Agios Nikitas located along the beach Milos is also worth visiting. Agios Ioannis beach, whichis close to Lefkas is located 7km from Lygia, and the known monastery of Faneromeni is only 9km away and it should be on your list of mandatory visits. One of the most beautiful beaches of Lefkada, the famous Kathisma is only 20km away from Lygia. Three great beaches at the foothill of the village of Kalamitsi are Kavalikefta, Megali Petra and Avali are 30km away from Lygia.

On the other, west side, there is Nidri (10km) which you could also visit. It is the most popular touristic place in Lefkada, and from there by ships and ferries you could visit the islands such as Kefalonia, Meganisi, Ithaca and several other islands. You could also go on organised excursions to Parga, mentioned islands and several other islands in the same archipelago and visit the most beautiful beaches of Lefkada: Porto Katsiki, Egremni, Agiofili. In Nidri you could visit the waterfalls Dimosari.
