On the picturesque island of Thasos, in the heart of the traditional village of Theologos, lies a small gem of the village’s cultural heritage - the Ethnographic Museum. The museum is spread over two floors, each floor representing a different thematic segment.

Ground floor and courtyard: traces of ancient crafts

On the ground floor of the house, as well as in the courtyard, tools that were once an indispensable part of daily life are exhibited. Among the exhibits are:

  • Tailoring, barbering, carpentry, and shoemaking tools.
  • Tools for collecting and transporting resin.
  • Equipment for olive picking.
  • Beekeeping tools and traditional beehives.

These items shed light on the rich artisanal tradition and hard work of the people on Thasos.

Floor: a glimpse into a traditional Mediterranean house

On the museum’s upper floor, visitors can step into the ambiance of the 18th and 19th centuries. The interior is arranged to faithfully depict how traditional houses on Thasos looked. Here you will find:

  • A living room with a fireplace and a sofa, a gathering place for the family.
  • A bedroom with a large wooden trunk, woven covers, and handmade bedding.
  • A room with a loom, where tools for weaving are exhibited, a key part of the daily life of women of that era.

The Ethno House - Museum is located a 3-minute walk from the most famous tavern, renowned for its good lamb, Iatrou (Kleoniki), near the well-known Kostas - Brko, as our tourists like to call him. Due to the good lamb and the Greek nights held at the Augustos restaurant, the majority of tourists visit this village.
