Small town called Nikiana is located 9km from the capital city Lefkas and 4km from Lygia, when you continue driving towards Nidri, at the foothill of the mountain Skaros.

Nikiana is a lovely fishing village, increasingly popular in recent years, but still suitable only for tourists who prefer peaceful holidays. It consists of one street that goes along the highway and in which are located several shops and a restaurant, and a small port with a numerous sailing boats, several restaurants and cafes. The beach is narrow and gravel (large pebbles) and it may serve well during the holiday, but certainly it’s not the reason why you should come to visit Lefkada. The sea is clean, but it’s not turquoise like on the west coast. There are bus lines from Nikiana to all parts of Lefkada, and there are excursion boats to the islands Skorpios and Meganisi.

Even if you don’t like peaceful vacations and you are situated in Nikiana, you could have a good time by visiting other beautiful beaches and nearby places.

The capital Lefkas is full of amenities and attractions for tourists, and it’s only a 10-minute ride from Nikiana. There you could enjoy the evening walks along the seaside or in the pedestrian zone, or by going shopping. You could dine in some of the numerous restaurants and traditional taverns, and also enjoy the rich nightlife.

Nidri, the most popular tourist destination on the island, is only 7km away from Nikiana. Except from going shopping, you could also spend a great evening in Nidri as in Lefkas. With ferry boat that starts from Nidri, you could visit the islands Kefalonia, Ithaca, Meganisi, etc. Also you could go to some of the organized excursions and visit many of the Ionian islands by large touristic boats, and go to Parga and some of the most beautiful beaches of Lefkada (Agiofili, Porto Katsiki, Egremni).

Beautiful beach Desimi is located 13km from Nikiana, Rouda Bay (Mikros Gialos) 21km, Afteli 25km, Agiofili 31km, Porto Katsiki 42km and Egremni 46km. On the other side, going in the direction of Lefkas, be sure to visit the monastery of Faneromeni which is only 12km away from Nikiana, sandy beach Pefkoulia which is 16km away, then small village Agios Nikitas and Milos beach, that is ranked as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island and it’s 21km away. Also the famous Kathisma beach is 32km away.

Apart from Nidri and Lefkas which you could visit and which are really close to Nikiana, you could visit a very nice small village Sivota (22km) which is known for its fish taverns and perhaps the most beautiful place in Lefkada, village Vasiliki (28km).
