Arriving at Tasos but do not know where is best to stay?

You're not alone. It is the most common question we get. Let's try to clarify a bit.

The largest towns on Thassos are Limenas (the capital), Limenaria, Skala Potamia, Golden beach (Skala Panagia) and Potos.

How to choose from these three? I think there is a big difference between them and that should make the judgment on the accommodation that you found regardless of which of these four places.

Limenas offers more content than other places, but it has a harbor, and there is less accommodation near the beach.

Skala Potamia is the quiet family place and has more beautiful city beach than others. It's near Limenas so the facilities of the capital are easily available, and Golden Beach is a short walk away.

Golden Beach is also close to Limenas (5 minutes drive), a few minutes walk from the Skala Potamia and sufficient of itself for a great holiday because it has one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.

If you opt for the south of island, Potos and Limenaria are so close that it is absolutely irelevant which of the two of you choose. Potos has some somewhat better public beach but Limenaria has much larger and less crowded promenade. From Limenaria to Potos you arrive in 4 minutes drive, and you can even walk (4-5km).

Near Potos and Limenaria are some of the most beautiful beaches - San Antonio, Trypiti, Psili Ammos, Notos, Rosso Gremos, Pefkari, and close to the Limenas are Marble beach, Makryammos, La Scala, Pachis...

If you want a real relaxation and seclusion, then you can choose one of the places on the west coast such as Skala Sotiros, Skala Rachoni, Skala Kalirachi or fishing village Skala Maries.

If you want a place in isolation from the crowd and surrounded by pine trees, then Kinira in the East may be the ideal choice, and also take a look at Dasilio which is covered in pine forest.

At the end, the volume of the island is only 92km and I'm sure you'll at least once during your stay make a circle and see that everything is very close together. The most beautiful beaches are outside of populated places, and it is certainly unacceptable to swim all the time on the city beach and not visit those by which Thassos is known, and therefore a place that is just a base for visiting is not so important.
