Lefkas as the capital of the island of Lefkada offers the most content and attraction to tourists. The city itself is very nicely organized with a large port where you can find a lot of restaurants and cafes. The old part of the city with its paved streets is the favorite place for many tourists.

Lefkas also has a great position to visit the most beautiful beaches in Lefkada and it is the first place you come across on your arrival to the island. It’s the closest to the mainland if you want to visit Preveza and the Acheron River…

There are accommodations in the city itself, but most of them can be found in the villages surrounding Lefkas.

In the center there is no beach because the city has large port, but at the distance of 3km from the city there is a long beach Agios Ioannis which is, is after Vasiliki, another surf center on the island. The sea is turquoise in this part, and the depth is gradual. The beach is pebble and there are also stone slabs in the water. There are plenty of accommodations in the hinterland of this beach. In the same gulf there are also famous windmills, one of which is turned into a cafe bar. On the beach, you can rent sailing boats or pay lessons for this sport.

Going to the west, you will find the famous Monastery of Theotokos Faneromeni, which is considered the protector of the island. This monastery is worth a visit, first of all because it is a great sanctuary, and then because of a very nice courtyard and a beautiful view at the sea, the beach of Agios Ioannis, lagoon and Lefkas.

The famous sandy beach with turquoise sea Pefkoulia is 10km from Lefkas.

Agios Nikitas and the famous Mylos Beach are located 13 km from Lefkas.

One of the most beautiful beaches on the island, famous Kathisma, is 16km away from the capital, while Egremni and Porto Katsiki are located on the opposite side of the island and are 40-45km away. At a slightly longer distance there is one of the most beautiful places in Lefkada, Vasiliki, as well as the beautiful beach Agiofili.

On the west side there are many more beautiful beaches that you will surely enjoy during your holidays.

On the east coast, 17km from Lefkas, there is the most popular place on the island, Nidri. You can visit it in the evening and enjoy a very vibrant atmosphere it’s known for. Also worth visiting on the east coast are Desimi beach with a natural shade 29km away from Lefkas, Rouda Bay (Mikros Gialos) (30km), Afteli (34km), as well as the port of Sivota (31km) famous for the best fish taverns on the island.
