The most common question that we receive via e-mail is: “Which place and which beaches are best for the children?”

In our opinion, the places that are first on the list as an ideal choice for families with children are Skala Potamia and Golden Beach, first of all because of the long, beautiful, sandy beach. Besides, the sand is very soft on the shore and in the water, the beach is very long with width shallow water, surely some 50 meters long from the shore, and is ideal and safe for children playing and splashing on the shore and in the water.

The beach itself is nicely decorated, sunbeds and umbrellas are available with ordered drink, and along the beach there are showers. It is 3km long. In the back of the beach there are cafes and restaurants.

On the sides it is more narrow, and in some parts very wide, up to 30 meters.

These places itself are also ideal for a peaceful, family vacations, without disco bars, loud clubs and nightlife. Bay is 3km long, and both places are in the valley, ideal for walking, cycling, without much traffic. The bay is located at the foothill of the mountain Ipsarion so the climate is more fresh during the summer than in other places. The area is located on the east coast, which has many pine trees and greenery.

On the main beach in Skala Potamia there is a mini amusement park for children, as well as swings, slides, but there are also big supermarkets for supply, stores, many restaurants and fast-food bars. Ambulance exists in Panagia.

The capital city is only a 10 minutes drive from Golden Beach and Skala Potamia so the facilities of the largest town on the island are easily accessible. Only 3 minutes drive is the most beautiful traditional village of Panagia, so choosing the Golden Beach and Skala Potamia as a base during the summer is more than a great decision.

The second good choice for families with small children is Potos. It has a great sandy public beach with a gradual depth and can be a great choice during the summer.

The place is lively and has an interesting atmosphere. In the vicinity of Potos are excellent sandy beaches, so San Antonio (sandy beach with shallow waters) extends on the public beach in Potos, and only a few minutes drive are Pefkari, Rosso Gremos, Notos, Psili Ammos, Saint Anna…

Limenaria, the second largest town on the island, is only 4-5 minutes drive from Potos and can be enjoyed equally in it. Theologos, one of the most traditional villages on this island, is 10 kilometers from Potos.

Limenas also has a nice but small sandy beach, which has a natural shade in one part. Limenas is the capital city has the most facilities and entertainment for children, amusement park, small train, parks with toys, slides, swings, playhouses. Close to Limenas are also some excellent beaches and one of the most famous is Makryammos beach.

If you dream of a beautiful small bay with sand and natural shade where you will enjoy peace with children then Pachis beach can be your dream beach. Beautiful, long, sandy beach, with clean water, without wind and the waves, with long shallow water, and most important in the shade of pine trees that are covering the beach. In the background of this beach are beautiful family accommodations with landscaped yards from which you have direct access to the beach. There are not many of these accommodations so this place is sold out very fast.

Beautiful, sandy beaches have also small places like Skala Rachoni and Skala Sotiros, but also accommodation can be found close to the most famous sandy beaches like Alyki, Psili Ammos, Atspas, Paradise Beach...Beach in Skala Rachoni is very long and has some parts with excellent natural shade.

Dasilio is a very long beach and its most beautiful part is located just before the camp in front of Hotel Artemis, and villa Eleani, Periklis…This beach has fine sand, gradual depth and clean water, and plenty of toys for children in the shade of pine trees.

Atspas is the beach in Skala Maries and is known for its very fine sand and long shallow water and beautiful sunsets. It is great for small children splashing in the shallow water which is dozens of meters long. Besides the beach, there are several accommodations for rent that you can see on our website. Sandy beaches are also Papalimani, Nisteri, Tarsanas situated on the north of island.
