A must see/do on Thassos
If it is your first time on the island and if you are not from tourists who repeat destinations, here is advice about what you must visit, try and where to swim.
Of the major places visit Potos and Limenas in the evening because the beaches are not interesting enough to take a swim in them, it is better to spend a day on some nicer beaches.
Every day visit at least one beach.
Skala Potamia is the only place worth visiting and swim at the city beach or at the Golden beach.
The most beautiful beaches on the island are Paradise beach, Makryammos, Saliara (Marble), Psili Ammos, Pachis beach, La Scala, Alyki, Golden Beach, Trypiti.
If you have small children, because of the sand and shallow waters, you will also like Atspas, Sunset Beach, San Antonio, Notos. If you like paving stones on the beach then visit Kekes beach. Also interesting is the Arsanas for lovers of wild beaches.
From traditional villages be sure to visit Panagia and Theologos.
As for food, try gyros in the El Greco in Potos, as well as Kleftiko in Piatsa Michalis in Potos, chicken a la creme with champignons in Poseidon in Potos, fresh fish in a fish taverna Armeno in Skala Maries, lamb in Theologos and in Panagia.
Of the sweets loukoumades in Limenaria at the taxi station, full nuts in honey which are produced by Sourini (they are in all supermarkets), ice cream in Potos on the promenade and in Limenas, waffle with nutella and ice cream in pastry shop Tsiknas in Potos.
If you love to hear Greek music, be sure to take a night for a traditional Greek night in Theologos.
If you’re adventurous it would be nice to visit the natural pool in the rock Giola.
On the island of Thassos there is a famous monastery of St. Archangel Michail, which should visit.
